generally crap 1-2 times a day.
although what goes in comes out to an extent. i drink copious amounts of water and peppermint tea (3-4 litres of both, more in summer as well) and then coffee as well, maybe fruit juice in the morning. but i find myself sometimes going every1-2 hours, to urinate. |

generally once just after breakfast, sometimes one more time in the afternoon.
Time of day really is going to vary with your routine. I once had a really lousy job that started at 3 in the afternoon, and my whole cycle changed so that I started crapping at 2:30. Maybe some basic animal instinct: you know, clear the body for action before going into the fight. As for urination, that depends on how much water I drink (a lot) and how much exercise I get. I eat a full breakfast with cantalope (lot of water), tea, and grapefruit juice, then go to class for three hours. On mornings when I drive school, I have to urinate twice during the morning. On mornings when I bicycle -- part of the route goes up a long, wicked slope -- I don't urinate at all; most of the extra moisture goes out through the skin as sweat during the bike ride. Wake up once each night to piss. When I was younger I always slept straight through and had to run to the bathroom as soon as I got up. |

For best results, you should poop once for every meal, so 3 times a day. But, I'd say at least once a day. This keeps you good and cleaned out, and helps avoid problems with your poop just rotting away inside you for days. The longer that stuff stays in there, the more health risks you face.

xshadowx - there is a huge range of what is considered normal regarding bowel routines. It's normal for some people to have several bowel movements a day, some people it's once a week. I would think that if you're only having one a week though, that it ought to be quite substantial (without getting too gross).
If this is a change from your norm, or if you feel constipated or aren't passing very much stool, you might want to look into drinking more water, consuming more fiber and exercising more. See if that helps. If not, ask your doctor.

Gotta add something to that...
It's important to "respond" to your body's cues that you need to defecate. You can actually lose those signals if you suppress the urge over a period of time. And trust me, there are far too many people (especially elderly people) who are completely dependant on laxatives, suppositories and enemas to have a bowel movement at all! Not trying to scare ya, but just so you know...

Spritebox - It's normal for one to become kind of constipated when travelling due to a number of things - different water, food, routines, exercise, etc.

Every morning about 20 minutes after I wake up. I think the walking around moves things into place. I like to do it before my shower so I am fresh and clean at the start of the day. I hate it when I get the urge right after my shower. Makes me want to go back in.

It depends on how many new magazines I've gotten, since I subscribe to quite a few :-)
But really.. I pee all the time... I always have a bottle of water with me and I refill it all day long.. I'd probably say I drink over 100oz daily. I usually get in a poop a day... depends on what I eat. |

I just wanna add that it makes a difference how big you are, because that usually means that you have bigger intestines and can store more, uh....fecal matter in them. It also means that it will take a lot more stuff to fill you up and give you the urge to defecate than it would a smaller person.
And to anyone who feels they aren't going enough, try drinking more water and eating bran cereal or oatmeal for breakfast everyone morning. No shitting (pun intended ![]() |

Back in high school I would poop two to three times a day. Now, 5+ years later, I go once, sometimes twice in a day; sometimes every other day. I don't eat the same volume as I used to which probably makes a big difference. I take a leak approx. four times a day.

this is quite a strange question, but I'll answer. I poop way too much, generally around 6 times a day. But, I also had a pollup at 20 yrs. old, and have a history of weird-ass stomachs in my family.

I used to have weird digestive problems (never diagnosed anything) for years (3 years old - 19,20 years old? and I'm 21), and only went about once a week. Oh lord was that an experience. Only since coming to college has it gone into a normal schedule, once a day or once every two days.

I have a bowel movement once a day (after breakfast in the morning and before I go to the club to workout). I probably urinate 10-12 times per day. I've always thought that was excessive and wondered if someting was wrong with me. My dad was the same way. I have a friend that seems to never have to go. For example, Saturday we went to breakfast after she got off of work at 6:30am and then went shopping and went to a movie at 12:30. She didn;t go to the bathroom until after the movie! I think I went about 4 or 5 times!

A trip to Bojangles and then the 10 minute ticker starts. Otherwise, usually once a day before work--the three S's "shit, shower, and shave." I hate having to take a dump at work.
As far as urinating, after a few beers it becomes one in, one out. In general you make 1mL urine/kg/hour but that varies depending on what you take in and your body's fluid status. |
