What do you take for headaches?

Personally, I take Excedrin, it works like a charm.

sportsrule101 07-17-2003 06:59 AM

a nap

wh00p 07-17-2003 04:15 PM

Tylenol(acetaminophen) is different from ibuprofen. I usually take ibuprofen unless i'm feeling cheap, in which case i take aspirin. Tylenol doesn't do crap.

spectre 07-17-2003 05:05 PM

I rarely take anything for pain. If the pain is bad enough, I'll take Alleve.

almostaugust 07-18-2003 01:28 AM

I usually follow thefollowing checklist-
1. Water (if this doesnt work)
2. Paracetamol+ Codine
3. Sleep.

cliche 07-18-2003 02:40 AM

paracetamol/ibuprofen
but I get migraines so occasionally have to play with sumatriptan or similar

Pellaz 07-18-2003 09:04 AM

Imitrex for bad migraines. Advil Migraine for everything else.

bigoldalphamale 07-18-2003 09:40 AM

eat something and drink a ton of water...if that fails...anything close will do...ibuprofen to morphine...doesnt matter.

yoshi 07-20-2003 08:01 AM

I love Excedrin Migraine:)

cheerios 07-20-2003 01:30 PM

asprin and a Mt Dew

rodgerd 07-21-2003 12:20 AM

None of the above. I used to be a Panadol man, but I've discovered Neurofen, the breakfast of champions.

(I suffer migranes, so the muscle relaxant in Neurofen makes a big difference).

Amethyst 07-21-2003 02:54 PM

I usually take whatever I can find.

Rodney 07-21-2003 04:46 PM

Aleve (naproxin sodium) for all aches and pains. Asprin doesn't go down smoothly for me, and some of the other non-aspirin products give me cottonmouth. Naproxin sodium works great, is good for up to 12 hours, and is cheap (especially considering the one-pill-for-12-hours thing). Also like it for backaches and sore knees.

Saw this thread while viewing Who's Online.

I take Excedrin for strictly headaches. I typically use this in tandem with a cup of Tension Tamer tea, lots of water (a Nalgene full), stretching, and massage.

Baraka_Guru 07-10-2010 08:28 PM

The only time I ever get a headache is when I have a full-blown cold.

This means the only time I take something for a headache is during my bi-annual (sometimes tri-annual) cold, in which case I take something along the lines of Tylenol Cold & Flu. This is a cocktail of:
  • Acetaminophen,
  • Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride,
  • Dextromethorphan hydrobromide, and
  • Doxylamine succinate.
It covers all the symptoms: aches, pain, congestion, coughs, sore throat. It works for me.

So I guess the short answer is I take acetaminophen for my headache.

snowy 07-10-2010 08:36 PM

Doxylamine succinate is wonderful stuff. I keep it on hand as a sleeping aid.

Baraka_Guru 07-10-2010 08:37 PM

It's the one thing that makes having a cold not so bad after all. I can't even remember the last time I needed cold medicine. It's been a long time. I might even be going on my fourth year. We'll see what next cold season brings.

Craven Morehead 07-11-2010 05:05 AM

Excedrin is about the only thing that works for me when I have a headache.

noodle 07-11-2010 06:10 AM

My headaches typically last several days when I get one. So I hydrate, sleep, take 600-800mg of ibuprofen liquid gels every six hours, drink caffeine in moderation, avoid sugar, and try a heat pack on my shoulders or a few hot baths with Burt's Bees muscle soak. If that doesn't work, I'll resort to taking something to sleep or a zanaflex, cause something other than plain headache is going on.

StanT 07-11-2010 08:31 AM

I'm allergic to aspirin and Tylenol doesn't do shit. My headaches are almost always stress related, time away from the source of the stress usually works for me.

settie 07-11-2010 11:10 AM

Tylenol doesn't do a damn thing for me either. not even t3's with codeine. I don't feel a single change. Advil works sometimes.
When I get a headache, I clear out my sinus cavities with Netipot, and take a nap (or try to nap, at least).

Raghnar -ITA- 07-11-2010 02:10 PM

alternate of Aspirin, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Caffeine (a couple of good espressos)

levite 07-11-2010 04:33 PM

Depends on the situation. If I am sick, or if I am at work, then I take a couple of acetaminiphin. If it's bad, then I cocktail a couple of acetaminiphin with a three ibuprofen.

If I am not sick (it's just a headache), and if I'm not working, then I smoke a couple hits off the bong. Clears up headaches, muscle aches, tension, eye fatigue...whatever you got.

MexicanOnABike 07-11-2010 05:01 PM

water, food, sleep, relax( do something that is non-stressful).

flat5 07-19-2010 07:04 AM

Ibuprofen, if anything, for any body pain.

Plan9 07-19-2010 07:34 AM

Drink water. Stop doing what I'm doing for a minute.

Word on the street is that blowjobs work like a champ.

Wes Mantooth 07-19-2010 10:42 AM

I have to agree with Plan9 good old fashioned sexual relief is just about the best headache medicine ever...hell just rub one out, you'll be feeling better in no time.

When that fails, I don't know I usually just have whatever cheap thing I find at the store on hand, usually just plain old aspirin.

LordEden 07-19-2010 11:10 AM

The headaches I usually get are a symptom of drinking to much grog the night before. I usually drink a crap ton of water and something with caffeine in it. If that doesn't help, I'll take whatever is in my medicine cabinet. I'm not to picky about what I use to cure a headache.

I hardly ever had headaches that aren't the product of lots of rum shots. I agree with Wes and Plan tho, rubbing one out helps.

lostgirl 07-19-2010 04:09 PM

Sex, it works wonders.

Redjake 07-19-2010 06:42 PM

You need an answer option of "any of the above!" I take whatever is in the cabinet.

Clide 07-20-2010 12:53 AM

Excedrin is the best you will find..try it and let me know

dlish 07-20-2010 01:56 AM

the problem is, once the sex is over, the headache comes back..

if that's going to work, you got to keep sexin' till you fall asleep

if its a migraine, imigraine is a sure bet
if its sinus related, i gargle and sniff salted water before i take a brufen or panamax
if its just tension headache, sex and sleep is probably best

For me, it goes away and stays gone. Guess I'm just lucky.

Cernunnos 07-20-2010 12:31 PM

Tea and masturbation, generally, along with plenty of water. I've never experienced a debilitating headache, so medication isn't considered. Caffeine, an orgasm, and hydration are sufficient.
