Suddenly I'm getting heartburn/indigestive symptoms and some.....
Some puking of acidic liquid that is really nasty. Sometimes its so acidic it hurts my throat.
I'm 26, and never used to get any of the above no matter what I decided to eat. BUT lately I have been eating fattier foods and spicy food. So is it more from age or food? |
...or stress.
Prilosec OTC is your friend. |
Or putting on weight... Or booze.
I have a hiatal hernia (another potential problem, if it came on suddenly), which was causing me acid reflux. I was on Prevacid (prescription) for 6 months to control it, but lost 55 pounds, changed my diet, etc. No longer need the Prevacid, can eat anything I like, but more than 3 drinks in a night was risky even with the antacid. You can also try raising the head of your bed at night. A hiatal hernia is where part of your stomach comes up above your diaphragm. Then the valve that controls the top part of your stomach might not function as efficiently, especially when you're lying down. Mine was diagnosed through a doctor ordered chest x-ray. C |
Please see a doctor. Weight, stress, and diet are all factors.
In my case, reflux was related to esophageal cancer. |
Meds can cause it too, combined with stress and diet. Sounds like another trip to the PCP. A friend of mine ended up with tooth enamel damage because of GERD that got worse over time.
|
Or you might have IBS, or Celiacs, or Crohns, or a gluten intolerance, or a mega bad ulser, or.......
You see where I'm going with this? I was 26 when I started getting chronic heartburn, turns out I have quite a nasty reaction to fructose. Go. See. Doctor. NOW! PS, the longer you let that acid rise to your chest and throat, the greater your chance of developing throat cancer, knock this shit on the head now man. |
Doctor or pharmacist at the very least. As you get older, you may well find your tummy less tolerant to spicey foods. Ranatadin lines the stomach and protects it - it could be food intollerance, it could be stress or hernia as mentioned. If it is stress, the longer you put off seeing the doctor, the more stressed you will be and the worse it may become. I used to drink pepto bismol for mine, or Koaline - monkey mud. But see a doctor, or start with consulting something like NHS Direct.

Could be a lot of things: stress, food intolerance, allergies, who knows....have you changed your diet or (if you partake) have you been drinking more than usual/changed your methods of alcohol consumption? Dietary changes can cause issues, drinking more than usual or drastically changing methods of consumption can cause issues. honestly, a lot of things could be causing this.
See a doctor. If you can't afford to in the short term, pepto can help if you're cool with shitting out a huge log of bismuth/whatever else is in your system every few days. Prilosec...haven't really had any experiences with it, but I have heard good things about it. Save up some cash, got to the doctor, or a cheap clinic/urgent care if you don't have insurance. Any way around it, it is probably best to evaluate your situation with a qualified health care provider. |
Stress, food, medications and alcohol sometimes trigger this horribly for me. Go to a doc if it persists and if you drink take it easy awhile.
Sleeping in a position with your shoulders up a bit helps a ton. You don't need to sit up but elevate your torso just and inch or so. it does wonders. prilosec helps a lt and if its really bad Pepcid AC chewables are amazing. Expensive as hel but it will do the trick if you are in much pain. Mine sometimes breaks me out in sweat and my chest aches; the Pepcid helps it much. |
I had it too when I was 25/26 or so. At the time I weighed 215 though. I weigh 183ish now and I no longer have any problems with it.
And, no clue if it actually works, but old wives tale remedy is to drink vinegar. I actually did this myself and it seemed to help, but then so do placebos, and I refuse to ever go to a doctor unless I need stitches or something drastic. Following the advise of those above me and seeing one would probably be best haha. |
Hi Zeraph
How has this been changing in the last six weeks? Hopefully it has alleviated, but where are you are with this now? All the best :) |

Shiiit I'm 25 and have been getting more frequent bad heartburn for about a year now. Maybe I should let my doctor know. Some of the comments in here have me worried!
