Do you like showering with your significant other(s)?
Or friends, or whatever.
This actually isn't inspired by my other shower-oriented thread in Tilted Life, but rather by a Dear Abby column from earlier this week. Quote:
It made me curious as to how many people enjoy showering with their significant others (or other people in general, like friends), and what their reasons for their enjoyment or dislike of this activity are. For myself, I enjoy sharing a shower with my hubby. I wish we had a better shower for sharing! When we were on our honeymoon, we had the PERFECT shower--double heads facing each other and plenty of room to move around each other. It was also great because we could customize the temperature of the shower water--I like mine hot hot and he likes his lukewarm. We don't always have sexy time in the shower--in fact, in our shower, that's kind of uncomfortable, and out of respect for our roommates, we generally refrain. I just like the chance to have some time with him in our own little space, and I like having someone to wash my back. How about you?

Sigh. Add showering together to the list of things we used to do lots before we had kids. I miss it.

I love it, with one caveat. I have to stay under the water somehow. Double showerheads will be a must if I have my own place someday and the ability to add this in.
There's something about having a second body with that extra warmth that is just SO APPEALING. I can't really describe why. But I am usually ultra relaxed by the time I get out of a shower, and what better way to increase that than to enjoy it with someone else?

As a matter of logistics, we always shower in the morning and we always brush our teeth after we shower. Being in a confined space with duelling morning breath just doesn't work for me. So, no we rarely shower together. And we have a fantastic shower too. Really spacious with a tile bench and glass walls. We saved up for a year to do the remodel. Alas.

I enjoy showering with someone else, but I still enjoy showering alone more. It is my alone serenity time. I love the way the water feels running over my skin, it helps calm and focus me.
I like the company and I like to talk in the shower, but I am not big on sexy time in the shower. It is uncomfortable and awkward. It does't always happen, especially now that I have made my feeling perfectly clear, but how long can a guy go with a naked lady standing in front of them all wet and soapy? Maybe this would change if we had a bigger shower with dual shower heads. I am a water hog and I love my showers hot as well, this does not translate well to a tiny apartment shower.

I am not a fan of the dual shower time. I did it a lot when I was in college with my first gf but 99% of the time there was no sexy time. We both had to be up and showered at the same time, so it was purely a time restraint thing.
I don't mind my SO taking a shower while i'm in the bathroom or vise versa, but not a big fan of the shower together. |

It depends.
If I'm hot, sweaty, dirty, & tired from doing yard work, no. If the mood is right, heck yes. That said, my wife & I rarely shower together, although we did more often early in our marriage. The novelty wears off a bit after nearly 24 years of marriage.

Hate it - like I said in the other thread, shower time is me time and I hate not being hit by the water at all times..

Lathering each other slowly and leisurely is such an erotic experience, followed by the sensation of two slippery bodies sliding and writhing in the shower? Too wonderful to forgo.
If I'm in a total rush and need to get somewhere fast, then it's not a good idea to even get started.

We showered together more in the past but now, there isn't really all that much room in our shower. We actually took more baths together in that past because it was another way to get warm.
All of that said, shower or bath, it wasn't about "sex" time. It was just about intimacy. We stayed in a hotel recently that had a massive soaker tub. It was great to bathe together again and in such comfort.

We tend to save our shared showers for Saturday mornings. It usually helps cut down on the time spent in the shower were we to take our showers separately, allowing to get on to the fun parts of our Saturday sooner.

Any time it's possible I try to shower with my fiancée. Doesn't happen when I shower in the morning, since getting up at 4am to shower with me doesn't make sense. I'd say I join her for about 80% or more of her showers. We tease each other a bit, but mainly it's just about being together.

OP: Say what?
Who the fuck showers with their "friends?" Heterosexual men born in the US certainly don't shower with each other. That's... "gay." And I can't see too many women doing it outside of college or beach parties where alcohol and string bikinis override privacy. Giggity. Anyway: I do like to shower with girls. In the words of one of my former female fuckbuddies: "Nobody can resist the allure of soapy boobs." And it's totally true. Sexytime in the shower is usually limited to oral or manual action for me. I haven't had too many instances in the shower where straight coitus worked well due to the height differences between my partner and I, temperature preference differences (women always seem to like it scalding hot, I want it milder), running out of hot water entirely (cold water on the scrot = bad), nearly killing myself sliding on the floor while grabbing the crip handles in the midst of dispensing sloppy thrustwiches, etc. Also: the hard water 'round here tends to blast off natural girl goo and leads to less than ideal intercourse. As Charlatan said, it's more about intimacy than hot-hot fuck action. Nothing better than make-outs in the shower to get a woman ready to do anything you want in bed later. Get her some flowers, light some candles in the corners, recap your relationship for the last two years and suck her face in a hot shower for twenty minutes. She won't give a shit that you're videotaping yourself railing her alternate love canal listening to Pantera's 101 Live album. My history with partner-showering has been mixed. Really hot times and really bad John Cusack comedy moments. I've done the whole "let's shower together to save time in the morning" thing and that always seemed like a giant waste of time and effort as we both fought over the stream with shampoo in our eyes. I've had partners that liked to pee in the shower which kinda took the wind outta the erection sails for a moment, especially when they decided it would be hilarious to piss on my toes. Sure, it's funny... but it isn't sexy. And to think they were all squeamish about pearl necklaces. I actually haven't shared a shower with my current partner. Call me jaded. Hubby and I used to shower together everyday. It was more of a convenience thing - I lived with roommates at the time, so it was easier if we did our morning routine together. I also used to shower with my cockatiel - she loved taking showers.
We don't really shower much together anymore - our shower is small and there's not enough room to easily manuever. We got a hotel room with a double sized bath for our anniversary a few years ago and took a long bath together. I could totally do that everyday. That said, I hate having sex in the shower. It's not comfortable (awkward angle and the water dries me out, weirdly enough) and there's nothing like slipping and falling and bashing your head open to really spoil the mood.

My husband (yes, I'm married now) and I shower together about half of the time. It's more of a convenience thing at this point because we often have to get up at the same time and our hot water heater is tiny. I enjoy taking showers alone as well but it's nice to have some extra time with him before our days start. We used to live in a guest house with a huge shower and dual heads. It was awesome, alas our current shower is tiny.
I do love sex in the shower but it doesn't happen all that often. My husband isn't a fan and our current shower is a bit awkward. We do have a long vanity that works well when we don't feel like going into a different room.

Congrats, cadre.
I don't really enjoy it unless the lights are off... we typically use candles in the bathroom for relaxing nightime showers or "I don't want to wake up so fast" morning showers anyway. I'm very conscious of my body and I'm not comfortable with its current composition. Actually, I never really have been. Plus, I like my time alone in the shower. If we do share on a rare occasion, it's crowded, but I don't mind helping out with the wash or providing some Stimulating Entertainment.

I prefer to shower alone. I like to maintain a sense of privacy and mystery in my relationships. When nothing is sacred, things lose their charm. Same reason I wont ever let a girl in the bathroom when I'm handling the #1 or #2 business.

When the sauna is heated, we take turns in shower or partly shower together to wash each others backs. Otherwise it's not that comfortable, when the room is colder, for the other one to step out of the flowing water. If there's time to heat the sauna, then there's time to enjoy washing too, other times we have so different schedules for showering, it rarely works.
