Going to be a father!!!
Found out on Thursday my wife is pregnant! We've been trying for 6 months, and finally succeeded!
No real poin to the thread other than to say I'm very excited, and scared out of my mind at the same time.

Before 9er gets here and dicks up the thread talking about parasites and breeders , let me say congratulations. Parenthood is the most fulfilling part of my life. There is nothing better than coming home from work, opening the front door, and hearing "DADDY!" along with a huge hug.
My only advice: raise your kids for the way you want the world to be, not the way the world is. That's the only way to improve this place.

yeah, that IS great news.
i wasnt sure i wanted kids. id have chosen not to, but babylish came along and changed things around for me. it brings another dimension into your life. babylish currently has got a network cable in his hand and flicking it around like crazy while at the same time saying 'hello'. i have no idea why, but i find everything endearing..and so will you about your own child. congrats again. i look forward to your contribution in the 'proud parents produce pictures' thread!

Congrats! I can imagine your joy at the news after months of trying.
Scared is good. I sometimes think pregnancy is designed to last as long as it does solely to allow the new parents some time to get used to the idea. Dad.

thanks everyone! I really am excited to be a dad, but obviously scared as well. I mean, I've never been responsible for the wellbeing of another human being before. I've always known I've wanted kids, and to finally have that dream come true is just indescribable!

You're a good dude , cuz you're upfront. You'll be a great Dad!
Whenever I've felt scared, I had to remember it's better to substitute the word "excited" for "scared". Makes a huge difference and empowers you instead. Trust me. I have seen this help hundreds of my best friends and we look back and smile about that. It's all part of the plan. Again...Congratulations and may (whatever) God (you dig) richly bless your family!

congrats rahl! seems like it was only yesterday you first posted that OP. i do hope you find the transition easy. the beauty of it all is that you really have to improvise and and there's no one right way of doing things. Go with the flow, but dont let it take you away from TFPers.
..looks like there's going to be a mini-TFP coming soon for our kids.

Long story short, I was told I would be a dad once, the first thing I could think of was watching a living being that had grown inside of my then girlfriends body be expelled from her vagina. I knew then and there that would be something I would NEVER forget. What is once seen, cannot be unseen, thus I felt it only fair that I can lord it over my so called spawn for all of their days. No matter what shit they gave me, I could always tell them "You know, because of the sperm I deposited in your mothers vagina with my penis, I then watched you come OUT of your mothers vagina in a horror show of blood, poo, sweet, and pee nine months later."
For reasons I really will not, or ever, go into, that didn't happen. If I ever get posed with the same prospect again, I'm totally putting all that in the 'dad' bank.

Congratulations from one parent to another. I hope three happy healthy people come out of the hospital - your life will be turned upside down - but in a nice way. I am sure you must love your wife, but just you wait - when that little fist clutches your finger..... even the sick stains down the back of your shoulder will be a badge of pride. You will go out for walks, and as you show and explain things to your child, they will all seem new and brighter to you. Its a wonderfull thing to be a parent, enjoy every moment.
