Cant drink any alcohol with out feeling sick!!!!
So here is my problem that i need some advice with. I have drank for years but sense a year or two ago my body just dont let me drink. I have never really liked beer but have drank and could deal with it but now nothing goes down. There are times I can go out and drink and be fine but its very rare. When I drink I either get a pounding head ach or I get a really upset stomach. Maybe im drinking wrong but if anyone can help it would be awesome cause i like to socially drink. fruity drinks are outta the question and drinks that taste like alcohol bad are not my thing either so if anyone could help me find a drink that i can deal with it would be awesome
Thanks Adam |
Do you drink on an empty stomache? The body naturally treats alcohol as a poison. Have you tried Twisted Teas? They are mild and not fruity.

It would probably be better to listen to your body on this. Your body doesn't want the alcohol.

I'll try not to be rude, but this is how I read this:
"Every time I hit myself in the head with a hammer, it hurts. Can someone help me find a hammer which I can use to hit myself in the head that doesn't hurt?...because I love hitting myself in the head with a hammer, I just don't want it to hurt." Answer: don't worry about the kind of hammer you use. Stop hitting yourself. Pain is how your body tells you to stop doing something. |

Also, if you want something fancier, order a Mojito without the rum. It's called a Nojito. |
Are you well hydrated? Make sure you're drinking water throughout the day or whenever you're not drinking alcohol. If you drink coffee, be sure you have two glasses of water for every cup of coffee, as caffeine and alcohol both deplete the water in your body and will force your body to rebel. If that's not it, don't drink.

However, coffee isn't dehydrating; it actually hydrates the system. The diuretic effect of the caffeine is mild. The net effect of drinking coffee is hydration. |
Just wanted to say thanks the addvice is alot of help cause I think has alot to do with me being dehydrated. Whiskey sours were going good last night what else is good with whiskey?

My body goes through periods where I can drink one beer and be sick. I have not figured out why this happens but it isn't dehydration for me. I have found that beer is more of a problem than mixed drinks or liquor so it may be the same for you. Try drinking slowly and having water in between drinks. Also a meal or at least a few pieces of bread beforehand always helps me.
And I do agree with Cimarron too, I don't see a point in hurting yourself. Drinking if you aren't enjoying it is kinda ridiculous considering it's not even good for your body. |
I support drinking alcohol in moderation. I still maintain that the body attempts to filter out the alcohol in your system.

my view exactly. if its not meant to be in your body, then dont drink it. speaking as a non drinker of anything but water. |
Stop drinking.

I have a similar problem, but only with hard alcohol. I can drink beer just fine, but liquor will make me gag just from the smell. If I am about to take a shot and get a whiff before it goes in my mouth, I will gag before I can even swallow it.

Could it be a migraine trigger?
I've had migraines (not so much currently) following periods of stress where even one beer would trigger the event. What was confusing was there were times where I could drink all night and not be affected. But on a Sat. afternoon sometimes I could tell while drinking a single beer that a migraine was on its way. |
