christ, there should be a way to block the internet when youre drunk.

Even if you don't want professional help, have you at least googled "anger management tricks"?

Have you tried...talking to her and asking how she feels before you jump to conclusions?
Also, you need some anger management help. This isn't the first instance in which you get into a fight, or want to fight, or want to prove that you can fight. |
Stay off the sauce.

What's the problem?
Seems like you tried to do the right thing and were attacked. Not your fault the guy who jacked you was a pussy. He started a fight he wasn't able to finish. Either your girlfriend will get over it and appreciate the fact you are not a wus, or you can get a head start looking for someone who is worth being your significant other. If my wife did anything other than help me as best as she were able in such a situation I would be very disappointed. Violence sometimes happens, sometimes when it probably shouldn't. So what? life goes on. I don't see how this would significantly alter her opinion of you, it was just a quick bar-fight. If you had waded through a little girls school crushing heads things would be different, but you were provoked and it was a stand-up fight between two men, no further comment necessary. Also, if you feel you are a fat violent hooligan then why don't you lose some weight? It is a lot easier to exercise a little personal discipline by dieting/regular exercise than it is to will yourself into becoming a big pussy. You may still be a Violent Hooligan, but you will look good while doing it. |
what you didnt say was how much you had drunk
stay off the piss dude not sure how anger management classes can help since i dont particularly think you were entirely at fault. |
Don't let modern society's Dr. Phil brainwashing keep you from doing what needs to be done, man. You didn't initiate, you defended yourself, right?
Don't justify defending yourself. Your drinking and anger issues may be a problem, but I see nothing wrong with a little BFT now and then. It keeps people in line. If the guy was stupid enough to start a fight he couldn't finish, you educated him. ... How did society get to the point where a bar brawl is somehow a big scary sign of psychological problems? Amazing. A man should be comfortable with the use of force... so he knows how and when to apply it and what to do when he is a target. I'm saddened that this generation is okay with being bullied and features a lotta don't-worry-somebody-else-will-fix-that. As long as everybody goes home in one piece... there is nothing inherently wrong about the field expedient physical method. |
There isn't really much else that can be said here that hasn't been said.
However, some people react differently to different types of alcohol. Whiskey and such makes some people irate. That might not be the case with you, but if you are a different (happy/sad) drunk when drinking certain types of alcohol, then don't drink that type! Also, remember your girlfriend. She probably won't want to keep dating you if you don't take charge of your own life and get your anger under control. Violence should be a last resort. Always try and take a step back from the situation, and realize that any bar fight could get very serious very fast. What if he would have fallen, knocked his head, and gotten seriously injured? What if he would have had a knife, and stabbed you? Or what if he was a professional MMA fighter, and broke your jaw in a punch? Question you should always ask yourself, is it worth it? Will you really care about this in a week? In a month? Don't forget the criminal side of this either. Violence is illegal, and even if you claim (perhaps rightly) self defense, do you really want the hassle, and fiscal expense of hiring a lawyer, going to court, missing work, etc. Just take all that stress, anger, and resentment out of your life. Realize that this is your life, you're in control. Don't let anger rule you. You're in control. Take three deep breaths, and walk away. And when you walk away, smile, because you're totally in control. The result of walking away will almost always be better than getting in a fight. It's not worth it. You're more mature than that, and so is society. Your gf wants to see your softer caring side, not your gladiator side. |
Sounds like you're still in your 20's. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'll tell you what I've learned over the years. It's not your fight. Take that literally. Instead of walking in the middle like you own the joint, just nudge your bud, say "It's not worth it man" and brace him a little in case he's not quite there yet. I've broken up a barfight or two and have never been in one through my own actions. If he wants to fight and you have his back, then it's your job to jump in if someone else wants to, or pull him away when it's over. Taking over is a jackass move, usually. My wife likes my rough side. If some dude said something to her, she expects me to kick his ass. Silly high maintenance girl :shakehead::thumbsup: It's obvious your girl isn't like that though. Consider that the next time you feel like pissing higher on someone else's tree for kicks :) |
Only thing you can do, really, is talk to her.
Now, whether or not you were in the right and you were defending yourself depend on that "little shove" at the start of it all. |
Obviously I shouldnt have posted this online, I was awfully drunk last night... I wish I could delete this whole thing to be honest.
In terms of how things went, obviously she wasnt particularly impressed, but I was being a bit over dramatic when I first talked about it. |
damn editing

modspeak: we cant delete threads im afraid, but members are entitled to edit their posts as they please.
on a personal note, i still think you should think about reducing your alcohol consumption. period. Also, chicks dont dig violent guys and drunk violent guys. a recipe for disaster for them if they ever intend to enter into a long term relationship with that person. Think hard about what means more to you and decide from there good luck. |

Moved or closed maybe, but I just double checked and don't see any that have been deleted.
Speaking of closed, though, you're right that this thread is meaningless now... |
