Do two shots, vomit twice
Hi all. Tonight I did a shot of Jack Daniels, and promptly threw up. My first thought was "What the fuck was that?" I took a vitamin, ate some tums, and after about ten minutes did another shot; I threw up AGAIN! I don't get it. I'm not sick, I have a decent tolerance, and I didn't feel shitty before throwing up. I just instantly knew that I was going to puke. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Usually I can do about nine or ten shots (in a space of 1-2 hours) before I start to feel pukey, and even then I can keep going if the atmosphere is right. Any ideas?

It sounds like Jack just isn't your drink. It's nothing to worry about, just stick to stuff you like.

Our bodies change over time. It might be time to find another drink.
Try wine. ;) |
If that's extremely abnormal for you you may want to think about seeing a doc. Although, try a different bottle of jack first, to make sure it wasn't something fishy with that particular one. I wouldn't know, but I'd think something like that might indicate liver problems or kidney or something.
If your skin seems yellowish (jaundice) see a doc immediately. |
could be something you ate.. or how soon you drank after you ate.

Prepare to die, you have swine flu.
But seriously, if you regularly drink 10 shots in an hour (Heavy duty binge drinking) eventually this will cause major health problems down the road. You didn't mention how often or how long you have been drinking this heavily. I imagine your body is trying to tell you something. |
I'm 18, and I can count on two hands the number of times I've been drunk in my life. I originally busted the bottle in question out about month-month and a half ago. It's been sitting in a closet since then. Could it have gone skunky in that amount of time? I don't have jaundice. I had an oven-bake pizza for dinner about 1 1/2-2 hours before I drank.

Bacteria or mold isn't going to grow in it but it may have a virus (unlikely) in it from outside exposure. I was thinking more along the lines of a bad batch, like it got too much of some chemical in it (unlikely though).
More likely you're just sick, and aren't feeling it or maybe dehydrated. There's also a slight chance you've grown allergic to one of the ingredients. That can happen, even down the road, at 25 or 30 you can suddenly become allergic to shellfish for instance. Although I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone becoming suddenly allergic to a type of liquor. Beer or wine, yes. For instance, I don't throw up, but I get pretty nauseous on the majority of beer or wine. Whereas I can do 4-5 shots in an hour and be fine. I'd give it another day, if you still feel fine, then try a shot of something else. But I'd start thinking about seeing a doc if I were you (if you have the insurance or the symptoms get worse). It's possible it's indicative of something a lot more serious, but I'm fairly paranoid about this stuff. The last possibility in my mind is your body just conditioned itself because the last time you drank was too much. I've known plenty of people that drank too much of rum for instance, and just the smell of it makes them nauseous. |
hows your pancreas? hows your potassium?
some thing happened to me once before. turned out a had a bit of a problem with both at the time of vomitage. |
Not sure what your issue is here, but I can say that you probably won't be able to drink it ever again now that you have associated it with vomiting......
I was at a party in college and my wife and I (then girlfriend) took 5 shots of Bacardi 151 in 20 minutes and we puked the entire night, now anytime I so much as SMELL Bacardi, I want to throw up, much less getting near my lips. I mean it twists my face when I smell it. |
Wow. I feel completely demoralized. No but in all seriousness, I was going to try again today, but I am feeling kind of sick today, and I was even feeling kind of shitty yesterday; I'm thinking maybe I was starting to get sick and just wasn't feeling it on Friday. So redjake I guess you can't drink caribou lous huh? Too bad. But hey, you and your wife are fucking soldiers man; five shots of 151? Good show.

Keep hard alcohol in the freezer, it helps it not go bad. |

I've drank vodka, gin, and a bottle of whiskey at one time or another that had been opened 5 or 6 years ago. And it was fine. Wine will turn to vinegar eventually, beer goes flat, but none of em really go "bad". |
Success!...sorta
Well, earlier I did two shots in the space of about a half hour, with no puking or nausea. (Ya smell that? I love the smell of Jack Daniels in the early afternoon.Smells like...victory.) Wierd thing is, I didn't seem to like the taste of the stuff. I'm hoping that goes away. Well, thanks for all the replies mates.

One liquor at a time. First it was too many tequila shots. Then it was bourbon. Then it was peppermint schnapps (all due to one night). Then it was vodka. Then it was beer. . . . . I've felt great ever since! |
I've had my episodes in which I've had to take a break from a certain liquor, but I eventually got over it and drank again. God its Cinco De Mio and I'm not drinking?:shakehead:

That is my favorite cartoon. I have it posted on the door of my lab. :)
And to the OP, slow the fuck down! 18 years old and accustomed to drinking upwards of 10 shots in a couple of hours!?!?! I'm not telling you how to live your life, but you might want to step back and seriously assess things for yourself. |

20 years of heavy drinking (Jesus, that sounds so sad). Now I haven't had a drop since last August. Just got sick of everything. I sure don't miss hangovers.:shakehead: |
