China Town - New York
So I purchased a Ralph Lauren Blue, and Versace Blue Jeans Cologne for 35 bucks total. My cousins and moms were looking at some sick ass purses for a really good bargain also. Ridiculous! Of course they are all fake but you cant tell the difference. I had essentially my entire family smell the cologne and they all said it smells like the original.
My cousins were making fun of me because they thought 35 was too much for the 2 colognes, so then I tried buying 4 shot glasses for 50 cents...haha the chinese dude looked at the 2 quarters that I put on the table, and said get the hell out of my store (in his lil chinese voice & accent) hahaha i purchased an Armani Exchange belt for 5 bucks too hahaha ridiculous! -----Added 1/9/2008 at 06 : 19 : 11----- It was essentially my first time in New York. We were only there for a day and didnt do much cuz all the parents were overweight and under exercised aka too tired to walk. and they wouldnt let us go. |
There are certainly some interesting characters hiding about in the back rooms and vans lining Canal Street. Whenever I'm there, I usually pick up a few pairs of cheapie sunglasses to stash in the car or to bring somewhere I don't want my good ones stolen. They do the trick!

I work near China Town. It happens every once in a while where you see a string of storefronts closed up with pink notice slips taped to them. Naughty naughty.
|
I never realized how much of a playa hater my mother is. She takes delight in letting people know that she knows their Louis Vutton handbag is fake.
|
Your mom knows her shit!
|
when i was in NY last year when i met halx and cynth i went to chinatown and absolutely hated it.
as cheap as it was i just couldnt buy the fake shit. id rather a no name brand than an obvious fake. you maynot be able to tell the difference, but louis vutton can |

I love Chinatown. It's just one of those places that refuses to be as squeaky clean as the rest of the city and at night it can be downright scary. The alleys and the mounds of garbage, the filth...makes for awesome photos.

describe Chinatown being downright scary at night please!

i'm with comrade manic skafe on this. chinatown nyc is a trip and there is excellent food to be had. you can be chumped if you're out to be a chump, but that's true most places. some of the street food is great too. lion's beards. mmm.
|
Chinatown is awesome--I haven't spent much time in the NYC one, but practically grew up in the Seattle Chinatown, and have enjoyed Vancouver, BC and San Francisco's, as well. Something very gritty and original about the scene, as much as they like to sell copies... :)
|
i take that back..i dont hate chinatown itself.. in fact i have spent a lot of time in different china towns all over the world. i just refuse to buy the obvious fakes... except for those dvds and latest programs.
bankok, malaysia, NYC, Sydney...theres even one here in dubai, except its a mall.... dragonmart! |
Hi, I'm here to rain on your parade. Everything you bought is either fake or stolen.

I don't get that reasoning... You won't buy a fake designer item that looks exactly like the original in every way but you'll buy a DVD that's just as fake? What's the difference between buying a good looking fake versus a no name off brand. If it's pleasurable to the senses, it shouldn't matter if it's made by Faded Glory(Wal-mart brand, what I'm wearing bitches!) Ralph Lauren or Raphel Lareun(fake brand i just made up.) |

But what if its pleasurable to the senses and its made by Ralph Lauren for the same price as Faded Glory..now thats orgasmic. |
