Decide my future (at least the next month of it)
Ok, I'm on summer vacation. I tried somewhat to get a job, but I'm leaving in mid august for college anyways and I don't need to work right now. I'm bored though, so I want to do something during this next month. Give me suggestions. Think about what you would love to do if you had one month completely free.

take a big computer-game and finish it.
Rent all the movies you've always put off watching, take up warhammer or other miniature-warfare gaming (you'll fill the whole month with that one alone) take up climbing, playing some sport, learning to cook in a new (or your first) cuisine or expand on one you know (italian is more than just pasta & pizza, actually, it's mostly *not* those things) take some kind of dance course, take up massaging (can always be fun ) Get those books you've always wanted to read pickup some tapes or books and finally learn *insert language here* damn, I want a whole year free, still want to do alot of stuff on that list myself

Road Trip! You can tour the country with a friend or two. Just go wherever you want.
Or, you can go on a nice long backpacking/climbing trip (it would be cheap). If you are near WV, you could go to the Seneca Rocks Climbing School to learn how to climb multi pitch tradional routes, but there are good schools all over the country. go visit europe. I think a cheap ticket to England can be had for about 250 dollars round trip. You could get a student plane ticket (lets you come and go from different airports with no set departure date, or departure airport), a hostel pass, and a rail pass and travel from scotland all the way down to italy in a month. It would probably cost you less than a thousand dollars too. Even with your bar tab.

Road trip is a capital idea. Best thing I ever did - I never came back!

Ok, road trip seems to be the concensus so far. I love Road Trips, but, living in SoCal, I've been road tripping all my life - Vegas, SF, Mexico, NW, Mid-west. Plus my friends can't get away for a month, so I'm going to have to keep putting off my plan for a drive around America. Actually, I just took a road trip during winter break with a few friends from Australia, so I'm road-tripped out.
Good suggestions though, thanks! Give me more, I'll pick one out and if its something interesting I'll post updates on my progress here. |

A nice long road trip across this beautiful country, that is what I would do.

Start and finish a really insanely complicated piece of art. Use whatever medium suits you. Just make it large, or complex, or large AND complex.
or Rent/buy/borrow potters wheel and learn to throw. Spend a few hours every day on the wheel. At the end of the month your have a lot of cool stuff AND a new skill.

Join the military. Thats what I did 2 days after summer started and before I was supposed to go out to school in the fall. 4 years later and I've met more people and done more things than I thought I would ever have thought I would have done. Plus the satisifaction of giving something back.

Road Trip!
Volunteering is good too! Or just GET A JOB ANYWAYS! You don't have to tell them that you're going to college until you give them your two weeks notice, if you give them any notice.
