A fresh can of dip, a hot cup of coffee, lunch breaks, the view from the mountains, warm clothes that just came out of the dryer. A gentle breeze. Ahhhh.

New Mexican green chili. When I have lived in Texas and on the east coast, the chili they had was absolutely ridiculous compared to New Mexican chili.

Ice cold dasani water over clean ice. In a glass.
On the porch in 97 degree weather watching the storm roll in.

Looking and watching.
Looking at and watching clouds, trees, wet pavement, wet grass, people, cars, planes, cats, dogs, birds, moving water, still water, still shadows, moving shadows, and so on.

400 thread count sheets. Quiet solitude without distraction. Freshly squeezed orange juice. A large healthy basil plant. The sky. Watching nesting yard birds. Moments that provoke side-splitting laughter. Not having to wait in any line, ever.

My favorite simple luxury is cooking all my own meals. I eat like a fucking king for less money than it would take to eat crap pre-made food.
Over the weekend I had: Denver omelete with fresh California grapes Stir fried bok choy, green pepper, onion, and garlic Gourmet salmon cakes (nice and spicy) along with linguine in a pecan arugula pesto Bagel with cream cheese and cucumber (I love cucumber sandwiches) Mediterranean chicken panino with homemade potato salad and dark iced tea Risotto |

The first cigarette in the morning...ecstasy
Sitting back on my lawnmower with an ice cold beer First cast of the rod into a mirror like lake or pond at the crack of dawn One of my absolute favorites that I miss so much since I moved was sitting around a roaring campfire at night, with friends, in the middle of the north Maine woods during the height of autumn. Yeah the end of your nose is always cold but the whiskey tastes great and the sky is so vivid! Almost no light pollution. Night driving, anywhere, any route. Bowing out some Dvorak or Bach on my double bass just for fun...if a thunder storm happens by, even better. A hot summer night, a cold cooler of beer, a pouch of red man and a baseball game on the radio.

Watching the boys sleep, and just listening to them breath, all is quiet, ahhhh, the luxury of peaceful moments.
My second luxury would be to hear them say, "Good morning mom" and give me their morning hugs, even sweeter, but as the day progresses, I am looking forward to the whole sleeping thing again, desperately, , ahhh quiet. Also, reading all your posts at TFP, this is a luxury for me, being a part of this community, having the time and the guts to participate even when I doubt myself.
