Some people never change; but your views on them do.
So I just got back from lunch with an ex that I haven't spoken to for at least 6 months. It went fine, short and sweet, just like an hour long, but I realized, What in the world did I see in this guy when we dated?.
It was horrifying to think that I was so head over heels crazy for this guy only what seems like such a short time ago. He was/is dumb and arrogant and yet I used to think he was so funny and I trailed along after him like a lost puppy. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else has any stories where they finally got rid of their rose tinted glasses when it came to an ex or even just a friend. I'm just so amazed I changed that much in opinion in 6 months. |
Bill Clinton. Back in the 1990s, when I was but a boy, I thought that Clinton was the Abraham Lincoln + JFK of our time. I thought all of his policies were perfect and that people were insane to try and impeach him.
Now? I still think the impeachment was silly, but I now realize that many of his policies were dreadfully incorrect. |

If you have chemistry, you tend to ignore everything else. I look back and wonder what I was thinking about people I was attracted to in the past, and find that a general rule is "the more I was interested in her, and especially the more I was interested in her, the more flaws I overlooked." I was also young and naive for a lot of those that are coming to mind and am realizing that while I thought I was thinking with my brain, I was really thinking with my head and leaving my brain to justify it.
