Chantix no smoke
I did a search for this topic, but came up with nothing, most likely not searching for the right thing.
I was wondering about the people that posted a few months ago that were taking the drug Chantix for quitting smoking. And if they are still not smoking or have relapsed? I recently got a prescription from my doctor, but have not started it yet. Also, there is a big controversy going on about Chantix causing suicide thoughts? anyone experience that? I have never in my life contemplated suicide, or at least not in any serious manner, but I do get depressed, like everyone and would not like that particular side effect, if it does occur. Thank you for any info.

i didn't use chantix when i quit but i know a few folks who have used it and for the most part, it seems to help. three people at work quit using it (all had tried to quit before and smoked for years) right about the time i quit (using nicorette) and still aren't smoking 9 months later. one other person at work tried to quit but she never really quite managed it. she's been smoking for years (15 or so? she's in her 30's and started in her teens) but this was the first time she'd attempted to quit. she only stayed on it for about 2 weeks and didn't feel like it was soing anything so quit taking it. if any had issues with thoughts of suicide i'm not aware of it.
so far, i'm doing good but should i relapse, i will most likely try chantix. even though i quit, the people i knew who used it with success seemed to handle quitting a lot better than i did. |

I think it works as an antidepresent. Nothing is a substitute for therapy as smoking is as strong an addiction as drugs like Heroin.
"Chantix is used as a smoking cessation medicine or treatment. It is used together with behavior modification and counseling support to help you stop smoking cigarettes. Chantix works in the brain to block the pleasurable effects of smoking. This helps to decrease your desire to keep smoking."
