What did you do for the first time in your life today?

Maybe this thread exists someplace, but I couldn't find it. What is something you have done recently for the first time in your life? Doing new things is something I want to do more of this year.

I saw my baseball home team on the road and was that guy in the stands rooting for the visiting team.

I bought a brand new dipstick today. I've never done that before in my life. I also used a barbecue cleaning brush on the engine block, which worked quite well with Simple Green.

I want to do that.

Nothing new for me today. It was a pretty routine day.

I taught myself to play Getting In Tune by The Who on piano (or keyboard, actually). It is the first real tune that I've learned entirely without aid for the keys and it excites me that I've progressed far enough to play it. Given that I just started playing in November I don't think I'm doing so bad. Not great, but certainly not bad.

And yeah, I know it's a simple song. Still and all.

Next up is Baba O'Reilly. I swear I'm going to conquer that beast if it kills me!

I rode my bike to work for the first time. The sun was warm with a few fat puffs of clouds in the sky. I still need to adjust the seat, because my legs started to burn on the way back.

hey, willravel: if you really want to take the elbow grease out of cleaning your engine, use a can of Coca-Cola. It's magic - seriously. (No off-brands, though; gotta be Coke!)

Oh, topic?

I actually finished reading an entire article in Esquire. I feel like such a big boy now!

Whee! I just rode my bicycle on a busy divided "main street". I kinda screwed up my route to the bank and ended up either taking the non-sidewalk or the road for 3 blocks. It wasn't bad at all, I took the left arrow and hammered the poo out of my bike, only ended up getting passed by one car and she was pretty respectful, 3.5 or 4 feet separated us.

Taking the lane is GREAT! I just learned this technique recently and it really helps with cars respecting you.

I'm going to try to be able to post in this thread two or three times a week, new stuff is exciting.

What are you working on and what are you doing to it, anyway? I didn't see any thread over in Motors. Are you just giving it a good bath or is there some project going on?

Try ordering from Smith+Noble; most of their shades have "blackout" options, the quality is good, the installation instructions are excellent and easy, and (I think) the price is reasonable.

Congratulations. Actually, inventory and and waste control are the reasons why many restaurants either succeed or fail. Are you going to be moving in to a food and beverage controller position?

I went on some rides at the local amusement park with my daughter that I'd never been on before - a small coaster called Taxi Jam, a helicopter ride that runs on an elevated track, and Dora's Dune Buggies, which basically goes around and around. Hey, she's 3 - we're not going on the Behemoth or anything for a few more years!
