What's for dinner?
I was supposed to grill these pork steaks tonight, but didn't feel like standing over them. Lazy exhausting Monday.
I resorted to boxed mac and cheese, mixed in half a bag of frozen broccoli florets and a large pouch of tuna. The kids love it and it's quick and simple. What are you preparing or what did you have for dinner tonight? If you've plans to be out, what do you think you'll be eating tonight? Tell the truth, now. :orly: |
I IMed T before he left work. Turns out he wanted canned chili for dinner. That made it easy on me. Put the chili in the microwave, it was warm for him when he came home. Made myself some pasta and sauce. Also made a big salad with green leaf lettuce, tomato, kidney beans, and mustard dressing. We shared that.
Seemed to work out fine. Wasn't anything fancy, but the fact that I opened a can for the guy seems to have made his day. |
I will probably make some pasta with leftover grilled chicken, basil, mushrooms, parmesan and a splash of soy cream.
Yummy...damn now I'm hungry and I have hours to go lol |
nothing is thawed and there are no leftovers so we'll probably be eating out tonight.
|
Left over roast beef I made Sunday but in a sandwich tonight and cheesy potato soup I'm making from scratch,
It's real easy 2 cup potatoes cubed 1 cup onions chopped 2 cups of water with chicken bullion cubes in it boil all together until potatoes are soft about 15 minutes Put in a food blender until smooth add 8 oz of velveta cheese continue to blend, sprinkle with bacon bit if you like Yum Yum |
Quick dinner tonight - grilled cheese sandwiches along with beef/vegetable/barley soup. Hey, if my kid will eat it, it scores points.

Wow, Sorry - but if I fed that to my guy...he'd be like, "WTF did I DO WRONG to hafta eat THAT STUFF?". Made some great homemade chicken noodle soup today (only because I had time and the ingredients.) |
either reheating chili, beef and barley soup or spicy tomato-florentine soup (all homemade and then frozen) and possibly a grilled cheese and ham sandwich.
we've eaten out the last two nights and i want to stay home tonight. :( |
I don't usually eat dinner.
|
I had Clam Chowder about an hour ago.
But that's not gonna hold me over for much longer. I might have to actually make something. I miss cooking in professional kitchen with someone else to clean up after me. |
I'm not sure what's for dinner this evening...I'm not in charge of cooking tonight. So far I'm having a Deschutes Obsidian stout. Yum.
|

Grilled steak with mushroom sauce with garden salad consisting of lettuce tomato, red onion, spring onion, gerkins olives and low fat dressing. Quick, simple but really yum and didnt make the kitchen hot. It was 31 degrees centergrade here today.

I only had some rice with veges and fish. All steamed. >_> Don't eat this at home, unless you can't eat fried food. |

Way to resurrect the thread, Giant Hamburger! :-)
Tonight is Pizza night. Homemade pizza. I'm still perfecting by pizza crust recipe, but I'll share it when I do. The sauce is this one: Recipes : Basic Tomato Sauce : Food Network With some dried basil with the thyme, and fresh basil on top of the pies. Also I usually blend the sauce after it cools a bit, b/c the kids don't like chunks. Toppings are whatever we have handy. |
Huh, I was just thinking about what people eat for dinner, when I was washing the dishes today--was wondering if people tend to eat more nutritious dinners after having kids? Because ktspktsp and I skate by on meals that I would probably never feed our future children, but for some reason it's good enough for me. Go figure. I mean, when we weren't living together, I would occasionally eat cereal for dinner. Yeah.

The 'feeding people as a sign of affection' thing can be a bad thing sometimes, too...my wife, like a lot of people, will eat to deal with stress. Brownies or chocolate chip cookies when the kids have been a pain that day... But, now she's trying to watch her weight, so I try to show my affection and support by cooking *healthy* food for her. |

Last night I made caprese salad (sliced heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil, seasoned with salt and pepper) and served it with Italian bread. Healthy, delicious, and super-easy. Abaya, I imagine that living in Iceland it's not necessarily easy to get fresh vegetables for a decent price, and so I would guess that that is probably one of the factors limiting your ability to have a healthier dinner. I wouldn't really worry about it, because once you come back to the PacNW, there is so much fresh produce here you'll more than make up for it. |
