My 2 new kittens!(help me choose names)

Hey everyone I got some cats this past weekend! GG was in town so she being my resident cat expert I figured I should take advantage of her knowledge and we came back with 2 awesome little kittens!

its really fun watching them chase each other around the apartment they'll even hide behind the doors to pounce on each other, its awesome.

I havnt named them yet, but have been calling the boy red (he's reddish orange) and the little girl Grey ( I wonder why)

they are about 4.5 months old, and need to be fixed ASAP... but the humane society hadnt done it yet. They had said it wouldn't be a problem getting it done there when I was adopting them. then I called them today and they say they are booked untill December! and they were supposed to do it for free! If I didnt have my aunt (shes a vet) nearby to do it for the cost of meds I would be really pissed.

anyways, here are the pics,

and I want name suggestions!

Rough and Tumble.
They are adorable.

Quincy and Moose. Then they'll not be able to help being really cool cats.

StellaLuna 09-11-2007 05:28 PM

Red, yes. And Wembley. Name 'em for Fraggles.

Lucifer 09-11-2007 05:33 PM

I'm going out on a limb here and suggesting....'Red' for the male and 'Grey' for the female.

albania 09-11-2007 05:45 PM

How about apollo and echo? I would have said narcissus but that's just not a good name for a cat.

onodrim 09-11-2007 05:50 PM

With their respective orange and black coloring, perhaps something with a Halloween or fall theme? I'm drawing a blank on any specific ideas though. Pumpkin and Pan (people might dress up as him, or at least the trickster nature fits Halloween ) or something. :p Or since they seem to be such a well matched pair how about Romulus and Remus? Hmmm, on second thought, don't take naming advice from me.

SecretMethod70 09-11-2007 05:58 PM

Damn, JStrider is just SURROUNDED by cuteness! :D

As for names, I've got nothin'...sorry :(

mixedmedia 09-11-2007 06:18 PM

Igor (pronounced ee-gor) and Stravinsky.

dunno why, just the first thing that popped in my head.

amonkie 09-11-2007 06:41 PM

Toby and Silas

RenaissanceII 09-11-2007 06:50 PM

Frick and Frack?
Mutt and Jeff?

Challah 09-11-2007 06:52 PM

Gawsh they're adorable. I'd go with Holmes and Watson or Nelson and Villeneuve.

Plan9 09-11-2007 07:00 PM

Demetrius and Logan.

surferlove007 09-11-2007 07:12 PM

I suggested Jupiter/Mars for the red one
Luna/ Bebe for the Grey one.

Martian 09-11-2007 07:29 PM

Jack and Angie
Johnny Park and Doll
Elvis and Alison
Anna and King
Prowler and Rosie
Jessica and Midnight Rider
Baba and O'Riley
Desmond and Molly

These are all musical references, which I'm sure surprises no one. If you want to know the specific reference to any particular pair, just ask and I'll tell you.

Yeah, my cat is named Layla. What do you expect?

Hey, Rough and Tumble are the names of my parents' cats...

I like Red for the boy, but Gray needs a little work. Just don't name it anything you would ever name a child.

alicat 09-11-2007 07:45 PM

Hekyll and Jekyll? J/K. They have such similar markings that I'm assuming they're brother and sister (that and their age), such cute kitters. Your boy looks so much like a kitty we had many years ago that we named "Spice" because of her coloring, but that doesn't quite seem to fit for a Tom.

For your "Red", I suggest Butterscotch, "Butters" for short (yes, Southpark fan here!). For your "Grey", I suggest Dutchess. One of our girls we had to euthanize a few years ago was "Dutchess" (weirdly, she looked exactly like Dutchess in the movie "Babe"). Grey seems ladylike in the pic's, I love the one with Red laying on her where her little paws are tucked into her chest..

I think calling "Butter's and Dutch" for your fur babies sounds like a cool pairing of names.

Alternately, "Bubble and Squeak"?

Willravel 09-11-2007 07:47 PM

Romulus and Remus
Freki and Geri
Lee and Kara

Baraka_Guru 09-11-2007 07:52 PM

B.J. and the Bear
Smokey (grey one) and the Bandit (red one)
Petticoat and Pantaloon
Catipuss Rex and Cleocatra
Lord Daftwager and Dame Winterbottom

....yeah, I'm done.

Grancey 09-11-2007 08:09 PM

Recent frontrunners for my new additions have been...
Zoe, Delilah, Theo, Sebastian
Also...Sylvia, Gilda and Lily
The winning name for my newest baby is Garbo
Her nickname is Bootleg...for obvious reasons

cj2112 09-11-2007 08:13 PM

Bush & Cheney?

/me runs

shesus 09-11-2007 08:42 PM

We have a horrible time naming pets. Quincy walked around for a few weeks without a name. We got the name from a place we always went to when we dated.

We just got 2 new kittens today too. We named them Penelope the Pirate (she has one black leg and a black patch on her eye) and Zoe the Ninja (she's very stealthy and sneaky). JJ picked penelope because of alliteration and I picked Zoe because I love that name, but would never name my kid that. I have too many other names for that.

Just look for a characteristic or a trait and go with it.

And Fredweena is right Quincy and Moose would automatically make them cool cats. Quincy was orange and white and was the coolest cat. Then you have TFP tribute to beloved pets. :)

DaveOrion 09-11-2007 09:35 PM

Castor & Pollux....first thing I thought of.

ItWasMe 09-11-2007 09:49 PM

Bubbles and Troubles
Rags and ???
Taffy (red) and ??

TotalMILF 09-11-2007 10:11 PM

Kit (red one) and Kat (gray one)

cyklone 09-11-2007 11:13 PM

Not good at names, but a tip you might find useful, passed to me by my mother. Before you give them a name go out on the back porch and shout it out for a few minutes. You'll soon work out which ones not to use.

ShaniFaye 09-12-2007 01:48 AM

Merlin and Morgana (my personal fav since mine is Morgana when we arent just calling her Brat)
Lancelot and Guinevere (Lance and Gwinny for short)
Frick (male) and Mab (female)

yeah sorry bout the theme there....

they are simply adorable and should bring you a long time of joy no matter what you call them

out of the theme

Heathcliff and Catherine
Liam and Hildy
Bonnie and Clyde

thats all I have right now

Don't listen to TM... she seems to have a new-found knack for naming pets after sweet edible things. Our black and tan puppy was named Coconut because she was craving a slice of coconut cream pie at basic training when I get the puppy.

Actually, Kit and Kat is kind of cute. I recommend:

I think StellaLuna's Fraggle naming is better than anything I could come up with though. :-)

guthmund 09-12-2007 12:05 PM

I love me some Fraggle Rock.... by the by, I had a pair fish I called Philo and Gunge and later on a dog named Doozer.

I kind of like the idea of naming them after things celestial, something like Sol and Luna or maybe after a planet and its moons (especially if one seems to hover around the other). Although, truth be told, I'd probably go the lazy route and simply name them Frick and Frack.

JStrider 09-12-2007 03:06 PM

thanks for all the suggestions guys still havnt decided for sure...

currently thinking Red for the Boy and Smokey for the girl as Baraka_Guru suggested but still debating!

Anyway, here's a link to 11,000 pet names

telekinetic 09-13-2007 12:35 PM

I have 26 cat names picked out already, but you can borrow two of them. The only ones I've used so far are "B" and "Z"

Jenna 09-13-2007 01:05 PM

I'm not a big fan of naming my pets names like "Fluffy." I have a cat and I named her Magnolia, we call her Maggie for short.

Anyways, I think Red is really cute for the boy, but I also like names like Bentley, Jack, Asher, Oliver, Harvey, and Finley (My fishies name).

I love the name Lucy for a girl kitty. I also like Ruby, Minerva, Sophia and Belle.

Oh and adorable cats! :)

squeeeb 09-13-2007 03:28 PM

i hope i'm not too late for this, but...

name one of them "john paul fluffykins" and the other "snuggles mcfuzz"...

yes, those are awesome names for cats....

surferlove007 09-13-2007 03:32 PM

I also suggested Mr. Mayor or Mr. Mann for red. But he didn't like any of my suggestions.

Lady Sage 09-14-2007 05:04 AM

Guy I once knew named his cat General Napkin McKitty Fluff.

Please decide on something more on the simple side. Can you imagine yelling that in anger?

World's King 09-14-2007 10:00 AM

Jackal and Hyde

Leto 09-14-2007 10:20 AM

Apple-back & Mud-Mud.

squeeeb 09-14-2007 06:00 PM

you should name them "hey, quit it" and "stop that" or some such variation, cause that is what you are gonna be saying to them mostly....but really, "snuggles mcfuzz" for one of them is hard to beat....

All my animals have longer names.

Bug the Fat Ass Cat
Murphy Jameson
Reverend Billy Scooter
Stella Genuine

Then again... I have issues.

Datalife2 09-17-2007 12:15 PM

aww they are so cute

JStrider 09-30-2007 09:01 PM

Well Red named himself this morning.

I was cooking breakfast, and I made some bacon and was waiting for the grease and pan to cool enough so I could pour the grease in a jar. Red jumped up onto the stove, right into the pan of hot grease. Then I had a furry, greasy bullet flying around my apartment at full blast. Luckily the grease had been cooling long enough that it wasnt dangerously hot, just painfully hot. I stuck my finger in to see how hot it really was since I couldnt get him to stay still long enough to look at his paws.

anyways... his name is now Bacon!

He's been licking his paws a lot today, but the pads look fine and not blistered or anything.

He was fixed yesterday... so its been a rough couple days for him!

allaboutmusic 10-15-2007 03:27 AM

Well, if one is Bacon... what about Spam for the other?

Chiyachan 10-15-2007 08:54 AM

Bacon and Eggs..... :D
