I have a sore on my elbow pit... won't go away
So several weeks ago I got like a skin bubbly thing on my inner elbow crease and didn't think too much of it until I popped it and it hasn't gone away.
There was puss and blood inside and its been difficult to heal due to whenever I straighten my arm it reopens. Does anyone has a possible clue what this could be? Then James mentions oh if it turns into a bacterial infection and goes systemic I would pretty much DIE. Yeah thanks for encouragement hun. So it went from a pussy bubbly thing where an IV would go into. Then I screwed with it and it won't heal. James said it might be infected or something...I don't know. But now I have a mentality that tomorrow it will turn worse and I'll kick the bucket. |

If I had to guess I would go with ingrown hair or infected follicle from your description. If it's an ingrown hair, no worries. If it was infected, well depends what it was infected with. If it happened to be that nasty strain of staph (unlikely but possible) yeah, you could be as good as dead in 3 days. You said you popped it several weeks ago, so I seriously doubt it's anything to be missing sleep over. If it was you'd have been in the hospital by now. Although, (as always) I didn't see the thing and I'm not a doctor, so that's all I got. If you keep popping/picking/opening it, rubbing alcohol, burns like hell, but kills all the living stuff.
Something you could try to keep it open, when you lay down to bed, rip the bugger open. Then keep your arm as straight as possible until it scabs up. Or just put a band-aid real snug on it.

Um... go see a doctor if it's been "several weeks". Staph is nasty and wayyyyy more common than people think. If it stays open, you can end up with an infiltrate... a nasty ass pocket of necrotic flesh up underneath. NOT that I think that's what is happening... just what could. It may be as simple as an antibiotic cream or it could be nothing. But something that stays open and gets smeared with alcohol, etc, you could kill the new skin cells trying to heal. At least that's what happened with Kiddo. I'm extremely paranoid after seeing his arm. Better safe than sorry, but not usually dead.

Hi. I had a giant staph-related hole in my foot that took months to heal. Folks around the TFP dubbed it "the footgina." Be afraid of staph. Be very afraid. Oh, and see a doc. If you've got an infection, laying waste to the surface with alcohol of H2O2 isn't going to help.
