I don't understand why it's not bigger news. I mean they may be part of the Axis of Evil but if they can slow Aids for up to 2 years then maybe we can get past our differences.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

Im pretty sure the drugs that are used here in the US to treat aids are now at the point where they can live with it for a very very long time. So unless its a cure i doubt it would be big news no matter where it would be. that being said... theres no money in curing it. so dont count on it. Drug companys get rich treating people and keeping them alive while sick. curing them would be bad for business. its sick its wrong but its true. Dont expect them to work all that hard on curing it when they can find a way to let you live with it forever.

Yeah, I call shenanigans. "Herbal treatments" are usually (but not always) crap. If they aren't crap, we call them 'medicine'. Also, this is from the government that holds holocaust denial summits, and thinks GW isn't crazy enough to bomb the hell out of them.

On one hand, all medicine is derived from herbs and other organic substances.
On the other hand, more independent testing or at least the determination of the pharmacological compound in the plant would be useful.

Yes yes the Iranian president is a cartoon character. Friend of mine is Iranian and suprise suprise they hate him as much as we do, they ask him everytime he goes there when the US will invade and liberate them.

But wackjobs aside, its an herb native only to Iran, which makes me think it could possibly be something we haven't seen before. And there isnt a drug out yet that you take for only 3 months that will last for 2 years. I'd say thats pretty damn incredible. But alas, no profits to be made, no one is interested .
