What is the best show in Vegas?

My wife and I are going the end of May and we're looking for a good traditional Vegas show.

I like "Splash" myself. There are comedians, topless showgirls, dancers and daredevils.

If you sit in the front, be prepared to get wet - the name alone should warn you of that, though.

Last I heard, Blue Man Group is still running. But I think they changed location from the Luxor to the Venetian. The Mirage's Big act since the cancellation of Siegfried and Roy is Danny Gans who impersonates many famous people in his act. Wayne Newton still performs at the stardust. I don't know if Mamma Mia is still running at the Belagio. And nearly every hotel on the strip has some version of Cirque de Solei (which I personally find deplorable, it takes away the uniqueness of each hotel).

If your looking for a cheap "old school" Vegas show, go downtown. The hotels on Freemont St hold the classic styles of vegas shows from before the mega hotel era of the strip. And those shows can be as cheap as $5 per person.

Don't forget to catch the free stuff either like "The sirens of TI" at the Treasure Island, or the Mirage's volcano eruption.

I know he does a lot of behind the scenes stuff in the Vegas entertainment scene, but I don't know if he has regularly scheduled shows anywhere.

Also, I have heard that he will be in a Broadway role starting in May.

Blue Man Group is worth seeing....once.

Penn & Teller was very good.

Of the Cirque shows I have seen, O is the one I liked the best.

I think the Stardust has been imploded.

I have never been to see Danny Gans, but people seem to love that show.

See one big show, but also check out the free entertainment such as the lounge acts.

Consider going up to Ghostbar at the The Palms. It may not be THE ultra lounge right now, but the view is spectacular.

My mistake, it seems Wayne newton no longer has regularly scheduled shows in Vegas.

Ummm, any recommendations for Spamalot?

A friend wants to catch it while we're in Vegas together. I haven't heard much about it. Would rather go to a Circ show, but don't know if I have much say in that.

I'll definitely agree to both suggestions. Penn and Teller were great, plus they stood outside the theater after the show was over so you could get autographs/pictures with them. I saw Blue Man Group in Chicago, but it was a great show and I'm sure it's much the same in Vegas.

i think vegas is the best show in vegas. so, personally, i would eat a bunch of mushrooms and go for a punt ride on the square nile that circumnavigates the floorspace of the luxor.

i am not sure that my idea of fun in vegas would line up with yours, but anyway were i going here's the kind of thing i would be interested in:

don rickles is doing a show on the 27th. i thought he was dead. that's why i would go.

there's a "tribute to journey" happening at the silverton hotel and casino on the 27th. nothing says vegas quite the way a steve perry impersonator does.

i would check out penn and teller too. and maybe a boxing match at the mgm grand--but i would also try to catch l. frank baum's great grandson as he descends from a replica of oz to sign copies of a book he did not write. it's just inside the main entrace to the casino.

o yeah: the shopping mall attached to the casino where the staff wanders around in gladiator outfits contains the single most vulgar spot on earth. see if you can find it.

I spoke to someone last night that really liked Spamalot when she was there a few weeks ago.

What you think of Spamalot would really depend on your opinion of Monty Python in general and Monty Python and the Holy Grail in particular. If that style of humor really appeals to you, then you'll like it. I haven't heard a single bad thing from a fan.

I'm dying to know what this particular spot is, roach! I must have missed it when we were there a few weeks ago.

Also, I think I'm the only person on Earth that didn't care for the Blue Man Group. It could have been that I had a headache and all the drums didn't help...but I found it rather silly and I was fairly bored by the end. We saw La Reve also and I thought it was much, much better.

I've seen:

"O" at the Bellagio -- pricey, but really awesome. Amazing acrobatics and a really neat soundtrack
"Love" at the Mirage -- pretty cool... acrobatics not on the same level as "O" but how can you go wrong with the Beatles as a soundtrack?
Blue Man Group at the Venetian -- awesome. Really great show with an awesome soundtrack.
"V: The Ultimate Variety Show" at the Venetian (but now at Planet Hollywood) -- standard variety show. Inexpensive, and decent for the price you pay.

I've seen Penn and Teller outside Vegas, and have no doubt that their show in Vegas is awesome.

You may want to see "Ka" at the MGM. I've heard great things about the show. It's been my experience that although most shows have a pretty steep price, it's totally worth it.

From what I've heard O is amazing. I saw Mystere a few months back and it was incredible. I'd recommend it.
