My Crayfish is stuck in my Snail...What Can I do?

Hey everyone, Im pretty new to this whole online forum thing but I have a serious question and don't know what to do. I have a small aquarium with some fish a crayfish and a snail. I was running low on fish for the past couple days for my crayfish to eat and he started attacking my snail and was ontop of him today trying to claw him out of his shell. He somehow managed to get the tip of his claw stuck inside my snails shell. He has been stuck in there for over 6 hours now and I am very concerned about both of them. I put new smaller feeder fish in the tank about 4 hours ago to try to motivate him to get out of the snail and onto some other prey. No luck so far. Is there anything I can do? Any insight would be appreciated.

can you use your hands to pry them apart? or are they too fragile?

well I'm not an expert... but his claw is probably stuck between the edge of the snail and its foot and the snail is holding its foot in place trying to be safe from the crayfish.

I would grasp the snails shell and the crayfish by his claw that is in the snail and gently pull... I cant imagine that its stuck with much force... the crayfish prolly just doesnt have much leverage. if you hold the crayfish from its body and pull it'll prolly pull its claw off.

if that doesnt work you could crunch the snail shell with some pliars...
or pull the crayfish's claw off... I've seen lots of em with only one claw...

I'm sorry but I did laugh at this!! I'm sorry but it just struck me as funny! I love all animals, I even catch the little spiders in my house and put them outside, really! Ya, just try to pull the claw out, he/she may lose it but will grow another. Thank God for those exoskeletons!

thanks...

Hey! Thanks for the advice guys... Im glad it did not have to come to me crushing my own snail or cutting off Sebastian's leg. T know it is kinda funny but sad I love my animals. But the good news is...they are apart! When I woke up today they were no longer connected. The crayfish is missing his left claw now but Im glad it will grow back, he seems pretty distressed, I imagine this must have been pretty traumatizing for both of them. The snail on the other hand has not really moved yet so I am hoping he is still alive. And if he is he may have a claw still stuck up there in his shell blocked off by his foot. Keep him in your thoughts please!

the claw should grow back after several molts... might be a bit undersized tho

you may need to help him catch food if you notice he's struggling...

and after doing a lil research it sounds like a crayfish could be a cool addition an aquarium... they even have blue ones!

crayfish can be cool, but if you have any fish that they can even think about catching they probably will.

But you also don't want to have too big a fish that it will pester the crayfish
