Business Trip: Detroit

Alright folks, it is that time of year again. What's there to do in the great city of Detroit?

Are you going to be downtown or in one of the suburbs. Downtown can get a little desolate at night.

Cross the border and party in Windsor?

Sorry.

The Ford Museum is not too far away in Dearborn, which would be a good daytrip.

Staying at the Omi River Place. So, I would say downtown. (haven't downloaded my maps yet)

If staying downtown, this is definitely the call. Windsor's the happening place, what with the cheap(er) freeflowing booze, hot Canadian chicks and good food. Just remember to bring your passport.

Otherwise, there's Greektown, which I'm not really a fan of. Or you can gamble. Just don't plan on walking anywhere.

yo

How far is Windsor away from downtown Detroit?
I don't have a passport, doesn't the original birth cert work? (used for Mexico/Bahamas/Grand Cayman)

Detroit

People joke about going to the "Windsor Ballet". (i.e. strip clubs in Windsor). Just remember that you might need a passport these days.

There's great Lebanese food in Dearborn. LaShish was my favorite, followed by knafe bi jubneh for desert at El Masri bakery.

I used to live in Ann Arbor and would probably visit there too.

it depends on where you're staying downtown. if you're staying right downtown such as near cobo or the renaissance center, you're literally only a tunnel away from windsor.

royal oak is a pretty happenin place...traffic and parking blows, though....

All you need to get into Canada from Detroit at the moment is a driver's license, and possible a birth cert. Sometimes when you go over they will ask for the cert and sometimes not, depends upon who you get. Pass ports make it a bit easier, but they are not going to be required for a while. That being said, Windsor is far more entertaining and defiantly more safe. And both the bridge and tunnel leading there are in Detroit.

Go see a Tiger's game. The Piston's and Red Wing's games are pretty good events as well.
