Planning to go backpacking in Europe around September 2008 for 5/6 weeks and im trying to calculate my budget. So i started looking at prices for the same months in 2007, but cant see to get anything reliable travelocity and expedia haven't been much help. im leaving from Vancouver Canada or Seattle, hoping to start out in paris or Madrid. the closest thing i found was zoom airlineshttp://flyzoom.com any one got any recommendations? any price range that you think should be reachable? Zoom is the airline I'm flying with, but we're leaving from Ontario so our prices will be different from yours. We paid $1260 roundrip to fly from Toronto to Paris in May, which is a great price for two people. I think you would pay at least $300 more per person leaving from the west coast.
www.travelcuts.ca is where I found the flight, then I just went to the Zoom website and booked it there. You can use the Travelcuts agency to book a flight if you find it, but it costs $53 per person and all they're doing is filling in the online form you can fill in yourself. -Tamerlain

I flew from Seattle to London directly twice and that was a good flight. I don't like hopping to Chicago, then New York, then to London, just to save 100 bucks. I fly non-stop so there is less chance I will miss my connecting flight. Another option for you is to get an airline miles credit card and make sure you can use the miles for international flights. Then use the credit card for absolutely everything in your life and rack up the freq flyer miles ! Then fly to Europe for free. Check all the fine print. I think Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines have good credit cards that my mom uses. They have never lied to her yet so so far so good. Jonathan

Zoom is a great airline to fly with - and they offer larger seats for "a few hundred" more. Air Transat is the other charter out of Vancouver. They fly to a number of European cities and they also offer a semi-upgraded seating for a few hundred. Transat can really discount their seats last minute if you have the nerve to wait - and if they have any left on the flight you want.
Having said all that. I usually fly KLM to Amsterdam and then grab one of the discount carriers there to my final destination. If you are able to book three months plus in advance, you can usually travel between European cities for under $100. I flew London to Malmo Sweden. The airfare before taxes and fees was $3CDN. The taxes and fees brought it up to $40. http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/dests...=chk?flash=yes http://www.airberlin.com/ http://www.transavia.com/en/destinations http://www.jet2.com/homepage.aspx?lang=EN http://www.virgin-express.com/ http://www.easyjet.com/EN/routemap/ http://www.flyairone.it/en/Organizza...tinazioni.aspx
