A visitor in da house
A little background is necessary. One of our 4 cats gets picked on by one of the others, so she is confined to the sunroom and the deck that opens off it. The deck is 30 feet off the ground without any lower access, so the cat is pretty much stuck on the deck when we put her out. But she digs it.
Plenty of birds and squirrels manage to get on the deck by flying and climbing neighboring trees, and we once found a large pile of gray, unidentifiable feathers in a pile by the door, but the cat wouldn't confess to anything, so we couldn't prove she did it. She also has her very own covered litterbox out there and if the weather is cold, I put the cat and the litterbox in the sunroom. Last night, Grancey came into the sunroom and said, "Jade needs her litterbox because she's looking out the door and she's been inside a long time." So, I opened the door, grabbed the litterbox (1:30AM, by the way), set it down on the floor, and returned to the couch. Grancey said, "Hey, Baxter (one of the cats) is freaking out like he's scared of the litterbox." I ignored her, because he's such a pussy, really. And then I heard it. While bending down to look in the litterbox and investigate what Baxter was freaking out over, Grancey came face to face with a little visitor. Grancey screamed, "OH MY GOD!!!! OH MY GOD!!!" I flew off the couch, "WHAT? WHAT?" Cowering with her hands covering her face, she hollered, "IT'S A POSSUM!!!! HE'S IN THERE! HE'S IN THE LITTERBOX!" Yes, old Mr. Possum had decided to curl up inside the covered litterbox and he didn't say squat when I brought him in. I grabbed the litterbox (turning the opening toward the door) and put him out. All the cats gathered at the door and watched for a long time. Grancey was visibly freaked for the rest of the night, but I told her to just deal with it. She's still pissed at me about that one. The weird part is that about three days ago all the cats freaked out over a small section of the floor in the sunroom. Did Mr. Possum get in once before, climb out of the litterbox, walk around that spot, and then get back in? CREEPY!!!!!!!

we have an outdoor cat, and he sometimes brings us presents, i.e. livers and kidneys. but one time, he brought us a baby bunny, alive.... it was kinda creepy, he probably killed/maimed the mother, and the bunny hadnt even opened its eyes yet. probably born only a few hours prior.
