Too much of blowing your nose?
Is there an unhealthy amount one can blow their nose?
I personally can honestly say I only really blow my nose when sick or maybe once or twice more a year. My wife, however, does so at least 10 times a day. Either due to allergies or whatnot. Is there a danger with this at all? |
An unhealthy amount one can blow their nose?
No. Not unless one leaves mountains of dirty tissues lying around. That's the only way that I can see it as being unhealthy. We are now in that time of the year when my hayfever starts kicking in. So far, this year, it's been a son-of-a-bitch. I've been blowing my nose constantly (50+ times a day easily) for the past three weeks. Annoying? Oh, hell yeah. Unhealthy? Nah. |
Hayfever is a bitch, its got me good this year, so no, not unhealthy. If say, however, her brain falls out, then maybe she should consult a doctor.

I do great during the spring, but fall gets me everytime, I've already started with the sneezing....ragweed must be up

blowing your nose is never unhealthy that i know of but... if you have to blow your nose that often you are unhealthy already. I get that a few months of the year thanks to allergys. If shes lucky enough to have allergys that stop for some parts of the year she should go to a allergy doctor when shes feeling better. They should be able to test to be sure what shes allegic to then hopefully get allergy shots for a while to desensitize her to whatever she is allegic to. but... For alot of people getting allergy shots will make them feel a little worse. Like say your allergys are real bad in spring but you feel fine in winter and you get the allegy shots in winter you wont feel as bad as you do in spring but wont quite feel as good as normal in winter. But if all goes right after a while spring wont bother you at all because you will no longer be as sensitive to whatever it is your allegic to.
Personaly im allegic to damn near everything and i hardly ever get a break from allegys but... i do get a nice change of symtoms to keep it from getting boring. |
What do you guys use to combat the allergies? Claritan or other medication? Shots? It's been a bad year for me too. I don't really like using Claritan. Looking for an alternative form of relief.

Only Benadryl works for me anymore. I've become immune to Allegra, Claritan, etc. 5 years of shots did nothing but give me a soar arm evey week. I'm with plaid in that I get alergies pretty consistantly. Spring, of course, brings with it massive sneezing, wattery, red eyes, soarness, and headaches. Summer brings oily skin sneezing and coughing. Fall brings sneezing, asthma, and sleeplessness (and usually a sinus infection). Winter is my only real release.
