Post-prandial hypertension/stress?

So, my body is kinda weird. After I eat a meal approximately 15 minutes to 1.5 hours afterwards my blood pressure will go up a lot (140/85 or so) (normally I am 120/75). And, I get a very uncomfortable feeling of tightness in my stomach, jaw, and throat (it is more difficult to breath). These feelings are accompanied by anxiety, and difficulties thinking, concentrating, and difficulties feeling relaxed/happy.

I call it post-prandial hypertension because that means post-mean blood pressure dangerous high blood pressure. My question is, do any of you feel this way after eating, and/or do you think it is a serious condition? I've been this way all my life that I can remember, and while it is really not fun, it hasn't messed up my life so far. I'm just worried that maybe it means that my heart can't do well when stressed or something, like it can't work well enough to get blood to my stomach. Or that I have diabetes... or something related to blood sugar.

Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

Does this happen EVERY SINGLE TIME you eat? If so, you might have something that's not working right- something somewhere isn't producing enough hormone, or too much hormone, or a valve that isn't closing tight enough, or whatever. I am in no way a doctor, but this does sound wierd. Ounce of prevention and a pound of cure and all that... go get it checked out before it gets so bad that you CAN'T breathe!

I get some degree of anxiety/blood pressure rise and tightness in jaw and muscles after I eat usually. Certain foods are better or worse- a highly protein based meal will not affect me as badly as a carbohydrate rich meal. Caffeine/stress can make the response worse too. So the worst combination would be a large pancake breakfast with coffee. The best combination would be a small ham sandwich and salad (for how I feel afterwards).

That makes me wonder if it's some sort of glycemic/insulin reaction. Any history of diabetes, either yourself or in your family?

As is so very often the case, I second Sage: get thee to the doctor.
