Questions for a Dermatologist

Hello.

So I've been having a problem with my acne.

I get realy bad nasty pimples on my right jawline. These come out like red lumps that look a lot like really bad insect bites.

And I've been getting a lot of them too. 4 in about 2 weeks and I'm not getting pimples anywhere else.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

i'm not a dermatologist but is the right side of your face the side that comes in contact with your pillow when you sleep?

Anything change soap/shaving cream/hand lotion wise recently?

No change in soap or anything like that.

As for the pillow question; I'm not sure. I usually start out on my left side, then fall asleep on my right, but I'm a bit of a wierd sleeper. My roomate has told me I sleep propped up with my hand on my head, or leaning against the wall....

but that's another thread topic

So your roommate watches you sleep... creepy. I to am no dermatologist, but i do spend allot of time there. If you don’t shower before bed, try washing your face at least, you maybe girding dirt into your pores as you sleep.

I too considered that, but he said he would wake up to drink a glass of water and he'd see me like that.

I used to shower before bed but I quit becuase I was usually too tired to stay awake another 15 minutes.

I'll try going back to bathing at night, or at least washing my face.

Wish I had medical insurance so I could go see a doc! :(

Are you a student? Your school may have a free clinic.

you might try changing your razor blade more often if you don't already. that can cause problems.

my wife recently started using tea tree oil. she puts water on a q-tip and then dips it in the oil and applies. the stuff is pretty cool and doesn't dry you up like the other stuff out there can. it works great for me when i have a problem. just a thought if you're into trying everything possible!

My first recommendation would be washing your face morning and night. Yes, it seems like a lot, but it does WONDERS for your skin and will get rid of any dirt or oil that could be ground into your pores (ick).

Also, tea tree oil works really well for bumps that have already appeared. Just apply a dab morning and night until the bump goes away!
