Beam scales
First post on the forum, woohoo! On to the question: There is a scale beam at the gym I go to like this one: http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5...scale_beam.jpg The bottom bar has notches for different weights ie, 100, 150, 200 up to 300. The top bar has a slider, I think it goes 0 something. I assume that you set the bottom notch slider to the weight that you would be around, so 200ish, and then you slide the top beam to get them to balance, and when it balances add the top bar to the bottom? So if the bottom bar is 200 and the top one is 24 I would weigh 224 pounds? Is that right? This is probably a really silly question, but I just wanted to be sure. I tried to google it and search here to no avail. Thanks!

You are correct :)

I thought so, thanks for confirming!

No problem, welcome to the forums. :)
What part of BC are you from? |
Thanks,
I'm in the lower mainland, Vernon. |
Right on. I grew up in Penticton. Always missing home these days ;) (working in Alberta for the last 3 years)
|
Awesome, I went down the channel in Penticton a few years ago with my cousin who lives there, good times!
Where in Alberta are you working? I've been thinking of moving there, or up north BC to Fort St. John. I'd prefer to live in Alberta as it's closer to relatives. My mom has a friend that just went to visit her friends in Vegreville and she said they are just starving for people up there, excellent wages with free room and board. So many choices. |
I'm south east of Calgary in Brooks.
I've worked in Ft Saint John. I wouldn't go back, haha :p Most places north of Grand Prairie are really swampy and will have a lot of mosquitos this time of year. In the winter though, the money you can make is just insane. $25/hours for the guys just starting (from everything from rigs to vaccuum trucks, everybody makes money). This last winter in Ft St, they were looking for class 3 drives for swamp trucks, no experience needed. $25/hour to start, 10 hours guaranteed every day. Since it's BC, that includes 2 hours of overtime. :) |
I can't wait to move out of Vernon to start making money. Out of curiousity why wouldn't you go back to Ft St? :D
|
First night I went out on the town, got jumped by a group of locals. i was told it happenes often there.
Probably circumstancial, though. Being a northern town, everything is more expensive there. Otherwise, it's a nice enough place. I just make good money down south, I have no reason to go there :) I was happy and sad when I left BC. The money out here is downright mind blowing. I'm pushing 6 figures after only 3 years, and I'm not even in the high paying service industry. I miss my lakes and mountains though ;) |
