kurty's Great Cycle Adventure
I'm doing it. Starting July 8th I will load what I plan to live off of for two months onto the back of a bike, and start peddling from Boulder, CO to Calgary and then onto Vancouver. The trip will take me through quite a few National Parks (both US and Canadian), and I'll cross over the Continental Divide quite a few times.
I'm debating on taking the laptop with me, or just buying a large memory card for my camera, and leaving technology behind (my preferred plan). I'll have a few friends join me for the Colorado leg of the trip, but beyond that I'll be on my own. It will be great, just a bike, panniers, and long mountainous roads to follow! |
What a trip! Here's hoping your legs hold out in the mountains.
Can't wait to hear the tale upon your return. |
Laptop would be heavy to carry, plus you 'd have to worry about charging it up or getting wet or damaged... take a notebook to record your travels.. you might forget as you moveon to the next adventure...
Have a blast - sounds awesome... travel safe... |
Your trip sounds amazing. I agree with maleficient. Don't take a laptop. It's too much to worry about, both in terms of damage and in terms of theft. The notebook is a great suggestion. I don't write much, but I took a notebook on a 6 week roadtrip I took with my wife through the western US. I'm not much of a writer or much of an artist, but my writings and drawings from that trip really bring back my memories, and really remind me of how much fun I had. More than any pictures that I took with our camera.
