Sun tanning tips
I know this might not be the most healthy thing, but I don't care. I see people smoke, ride motorcycles, do drugs, drive fast, over eat and a bunch of other unhealthy things, I should be able to do one thing (I've always had a farmer's tan for the past 25 years).
That said, what tips does everyone have on getting a good suntan? I've noticed when the UV level was 3 during the winter in Arizona, it would take me 2.5-3 hours to get a little red. And when it is 9, I get red in 50 minutes or so. (check weather.com on your local page for this info) You can use sun screen to 'cover' the areas that might be already tan or you really don't want to get burned. I've found a place far away and hidden from where any person will come across me, so no tan lines. But it is still close enough that it only takes me 20 minutes to get there. Drink lots of water, and use a sun block on your lips. And shave prior to getting some sun as well. Does anybody know how long a suntan will last for? And how often you should lay out? Any other advice? |

It depends on the person. My skin is dark German. It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour in UV 3 to burn, depending on how far into the summer it is. Right now, as I am stil light from the winter, it doesn't take long to burn...maybe 20 minutes out of the water, 45 minutes in a pool, and an hour in the Pacific. I always put oil free SPF 30 on my face and arms during the day, or all over when I swim or run without my shirt. I've never 'tanned' per say, but I've had plenty of sun exposure in my life. Admitedly, I've never experiented with how long a tan lasts.
