Post Your Recent Health/Fitness Related Accomplishments

I'm sure many of us are in need of inspiration and motivation to keep with their exercise routines. This is the point of this thread.

If you can brag (yes, brag) about your accomplishments, it might make doing them a little easier. It'll add motivation on your run, knowing you'll be able to brag about it on the TFP after taking a shower. ;)

And to all of the people who aren't accomplishing anything, it will make you realize how much you aren't doing any hopefully motivate you to get in shape.

See, this could eventually benefit a lot of people. No accomplishment is too small. Did you resist eating the twinkie work? Post it! Did you go for a walk around the block? Post it! If you did anything to better your health and well being, it belongs here. Have at it! :D

snowy 02-07-2006 08:21 PM

I actually succeeded in lowering my sugar intake today, just like I said I was going to :D

ChasingAmy 02-07-2006 09:24 PM

Finally benched my own body weight for the first time ever a week ago. 275 lbs @ 6 reps. (Currently weighing in at 260- was 320 a year and a half ago... thanks goodness I don't have to try and press that!)

Anyways... for those that have access to Exhibition check this out... (if you like) http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=87821 Shows my progress for most of last year up to recent.

I am doing well... and the pounds are still coming off! I will be skinny for once in my life at least!! ;)

Another accomplishment... I can run for 20 minutes on the treadmill @ 5.5 mph 1.5 incline. A major accomplishment for someone like myself.

There are breakthroughs that I have been making in the gym but won't bore you with them... as I have talk enough as it is!!

Cheers all... look forward to hearing more!

ps... soma what was yours?

soma 02-08-2006 06:04 AM

I went jogging at 7 am this morning and have started snacking on fruit instead of the usual garbage. Eating oranges is surprisingly tasty and refreshing. I hope to continue jogging in the coming weeks.

Mister Coaster 02-08-2006 12:52 PM

As I mentioned in the TFP Weight Watchers topic, I have reached my weight loss goal. That was to get to 200 lbs, down from somewhere over 310! Officially, I never really knew how much I weighed at my highest, because my bathroom scale wouldn't weigh me, and I wasn't in a real hurry to find a scale that would.

As of last Saturday, I was 198.5, a loss of somewhere around 112 pounds!

JustJess 02-08-2006 01:07 PM

Wow, you guys are really impressive.
I am proud that I went downhill skiing for the first time last week, and didn't hurt myself.

And I have been going to the gym twice a week for one month so far. I'm really lazy, but I'm really weak and out of shape, so....

Great idea for a thread!

noodle 02-08-2006 06:22 PM

I lost another three pounds. Grand total... 94 lbs. Yay!

Holy shit, you weigh less than a bunch of my tiny asian lady friends

As for me... let's see what the highpoints are...These are starting from 1 year ago with on again off again weight lifting

-Put on 20 pounds of (hopefully) muscle.
-Doubled my starting bench press weight (yeah, I am weak as hell and still am). Now i'm past my body weight, so that's a plus.
-i actually HAVE boobs now..:D side note: i have to admit, part of the reason why I started going to the gym was because a drunk girl loudly commented on how flat my chest was. She wasn't very well endowed either. I think my chest could give her's a run for her money now

Well, that girl, and the "getting girls 101" thread :D

noodle 02-08-2006 08:04 PM

^ naw, man... i lost the equivalent of your tiny asian lady friends. or about two and a half kindergarteners.

P-Naughty 02-09-2006 07:35 AM

Alright... Let the bragging begin. A couple of years ago my weight got up to 443 lbs. Yeah... This was my weight two-and-a-half months after my father passed away at the age of 57... I was 19 at the time. So I decided to try losing some weight, and lost about 20 pounds, but nothing big and it didn't stay off. It took my doctor saying "if you wanna end up dead like your father at the age of 35, keep it up!" after I shot up to 445 to kick my ass into gear.

Me and my then roommate and close friend Kyle started the South Beach diet and working out regularly. I've been alot more strict with my diet than he, but it's all gravy. Kyle is 6'0" and started at 367. He has dropped to 289. I on the other am 6'5" and started at 445. I'm now down to 288 (with shoes on and crap in my pockets). That's 157 pounds, and I'm still losing. It's going slower than it was at first, but slow progress is still progress.

WARNING: Pic Whoring Ahead

The only down side to all this weightloss is that... well... you don't lose two-and-a-half Olsen twins without having some... extra skin. I can stretch the skin on my upper arm almost a third of the way across my chest. Even though I'm getting toned in my chest, da boobies of doom stil partially remain. And you don't wanna know what my stomach looks like...

Catdaddy33 02-09-2006 09:08 AM

Like Coaster I've been posting in the WW thread, I dropped below the 200 lb mark this week. I'm at 198 and down 77 lbs since Aug 2005. Its been 14 years since I've been below 200 lbs and don't plan on going over that ever again. I'm actually looking forward to going to the beach this summer..

Mister Coaster 02-09-2006 09:48 AM

P-Naughty, awesome accomplishment, keep up the good work! I also have extra skin around my stomach, (although I doubt its the same as yours) but the health benefits and overall good feeling of being thin far outweigh the negative of the extra skin. I hear vitamin E, seafood (fin fish, not shellfish) and cocoa butter lotion all can help with that, along with time.

BTW, you look a lot lighter than 288 in those pics.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna give it a year or so before I have anything done surgically to improve the cosmetic appearance. My doctor said that since I'm only 21 that my skin should be pretty resilient and take care of about half of it on it's own.

And I know I probably look like I weigh less. Like I said, I'm 6'5". Then again, maybe the scale at the gym here on campus is a little off.

Catdaddy33 02-09-2006 11:41 AM

Great job on losing all that weight P, losing that much is really something to be proud of..

My doctor said the same, he said mine will eventually firm up and I'm 38, although I don't have it that bad since I didn't lose as much as you guys did. Just give it time it should firm up.

thingstodo 02-10-2006 03:57 AM

Wow!! That's a lot of wieght! I'm sure the skins will work itself out if you continue to exercise.

I just moved my max heart rate up to 179 doing spin classes. The most I had been to previously was 174. My anaerobic threshold has moved from 155 to 163. I'm 50, so that is 33 beats higher than someone that doesn't work out.

Nice. I only wish I could accomplish as much as you :)

I've started doing some weight exercises in addition to jogging. Not anything too intensive, but it's a start. :)

raeanna74 02-10-2006 07:15 AM

I haven't been able to loose any weight really. Been yoyoing between 145 and 152. It sucks. BUT
I have been able to cut back on my coffee drinking. I was drinking 6 or more cups a day. Lately it's only been one, maybe two. There have actually been a couple days that I've skipped my morning cup. I know it's better for me to avoid drinking too much.

Rodney 02-10-2006 07:21 AM

Got back to bike riding after a long hiatus caused by weather and sloth. Rode almost ten miles yesterday, which is pretty good for me.

stevie667 02-10-2006 11:07 AM

14st again, woo!

After losing loads of weight last year thanks to a stomach bug i picked up in Egypt, and then completly giving up on the gym, i'm starting to put all the muscle back on. Would be more impressive if i wasn't so damned tall mind you.

soma 02-10-2006 02:47 PM

3.5 mile run in the cold. Longest distance I've been in a while.

Just snacked on an apple and am eating home made granola right no (no sugar). Ergh. Need Candy...

BAMF 02-10-2006 03:22 PM

I broke my collar bone skateboarding (not very well) exactly 3 weeks ago. It took 1.5 weeks for the pain to go away. ANd today, I was able to put a shirt on without an incredible 5 mins of throbbing pain afterwards.

It could be worse, a year ago my brother broke his collar bone on a skateboard, but he also dislocated his shoulder on the same fall. The docter had to relocate his shouldrer w/o the collar bone holding the shoulder in place.

noahfor 02-11-2006 02:38 PM

Deadlifted 325 lbs today, a new personal record.

P-naughty, excellent accomplishment.

divagrrrl 02-11-2006 04:12 PM

hmm.... I am one of the lucky women that looks a great deal lighter than I am. At my thinnest, I was 135 pounds and a size 6 (I am 5'6"). Right now, I am 174 and a size 14, which is down 12 pounds from January 1. I will lose on average ten pounds each month doing what I am doing, so I should be back to full fighting form by June-ish. :p

Brilliant Idiot 02-11-2006 07:27 PM

Divagrrrl, way to go!
I hear ya about your appearance vs. weight. I'm also one of those people who "carries their weight well". But, even so, it feels soooo goooood to be where you want to, doesn't it. :) Keep doing what you're doing. You inspire me to compare notes in June!

I've lost three pounds since Christmas. It's not much, but it's the end of a brief upward trend. I'm aiming for 20 lbs by the fall to reclaim former glory. :D

Sage 02-11-2006 08:05 PM

My pants are fitting much better- I've been on the South Beach diet about three weeks!

I'm so happy- I've moaned and moaned about my weight for ten years but I'm finally doing something about it!!! :)

Gilda 02-11-2006 08:09 PM

I just switched from the half-pound grip weight to the one pounder on my physical therapy, and I can now bend my wrist nearly 45 degrees forward and 20 degrees back wards.

Excellent, 1 step at a time.

Best of luck on your recovery.

As a side note: Am I the only one who actually GAINED weight on purpose?

Nope. In mid december I weighed just a little over 100 pounds, which had my doctor and my famly worried. I'm now back up to a nice, healthy 115, and steady for three weeks.

Hmm, if I remember from your journal, you should be my height. 100 lbs would have me worried too. Good thing you put on some weight :)

noodle 02-12-2006 07:26 PM

i did my bmi today. it went from 35.5 to 20.7.

Gilda, congratulations with your wrist improvements! Every little degree you can bend further feels like a triumph, doesn't it? Yay!

And I bow deeply to everyone working on their health, weight, muscle, etc. I know how hard it is. But definitely worth it. Keep up the good work and keep on bragging!

I'm 5' 7". My BMI was 16, and my body fat was down to about 6%, IIRC. Now I'm back upt to a more reasonable, as of five minutes ago 114, a bmi of 17.9, with a body fat closer to 10%.

fredweeena: Yeah, it feels good knowing that I can do that. Actually bending it, though, hurts like hell, and the figures I listed are for during physical therapy. I can't do it nearly as far on my own. It's a matter of time, though, months to go.

Wow! I wish I could get even close to that. I haven't weighed that in 20 years. You must be quite petite really.

Good to see you're making slow but sure progress on your therapy. I've not mentioned it much but I'm rooting for ya, I know it seems like the healing takes absolutely forever.

I hope this week teachings goes better too. ;) Good Luck.

ChasingAmy 02-21-2006 08:02 PM

Tonight I made myself a new personal best on my front squats.

265 lbs 2 sets @ 4 reps.

I won't be able to walk tomorrow... I love it!

Cheers!!

msh58 02-21-2006 08:14 PM

Went down to drinking beer just one day a week, had gotten to be a twelve pack a night over the last year.

do some exercise the nights i'm not sloshed, just stretching and pushups and stomach curls right now, i'm really out of shape, but starting to feel better. Could stand to lose 15 pounds.

noahfor 02-21-2006 11:34 PM

I haven't smoked a cigarette in almost 7 weeks, and I had been smoking everyday for three years up until 7 weeks ago.

ChasingAmy, good job on those squats. That's heavy weight for front squats. I could probably only get 165 for 4.

Supple Cow 02-22-2006 07:41 PM

I did 110 push-ups in one day last week doing a pyramid set & repeating at 10 (and 60 in 3 sets of 20 the day before)! Before last June when I had to learn to do them for karate class, I was never able to do even one proper push-up in my life!! It feels pretty sweet to be able to do a shitload in one day. :)

Carno 02-22-2006 08:36 PM

After many months of hard work and determination, I was finally able to accomplish my goal of jerking off 10 times in one day! Yay!

I did do 30 pullups in a row, from a dead hang, the other day though. My previous record was 25.

Congrats on the No smoking man! You will thank yourself for it later... if you already haven't!!

And thanks on the sqauts... I am seeing serious gains for some odd reason @ the gym lately... gonna run with it until it stops!! Today I had another personal record... 300 bench :D! 1 Rep x 2... but 300 lbs!! Scary...

Supple, very impressive. Ladies that have strength like that... wow... I love to see it. ;) Keep up the good work!!

Everyone else keep up the good work!! Its all well worth the pain and suffering!

Cheers too all!

JustJess 02-23-2006 07:36 AM

I'm still going to the gym even though I haven't lost a friggin' pound in two months and I feel like shit. I went this morning. It sucked.
I got 2% milk in my latte this morning instead of whole milk.

I went to a rebounding class Monday night and didn't leave even though I was pretty sure my heart was going to actually leap out of my chest with the pounding.
