Yeah, I've become very good friends with my snooze button. It's not good. Not causing me to be late or anything, but still...I like to take time in the morning, NOT rush. Forty minutes of snoozing prevents that!

I'm so dead in the morning I don't even wake up when I hit snooze. By the time I finally wake up, I always swear my alarm clock is totally broken. (Did I mention I work graveyard shift and go to bed at 11am?)
So since my alarm clock wouldn't get me up by dinnertime, I decided the "Grab someone in the house to pound on your door for awhile" method. Still didn't get me up, even when they came down 4 times, each time angrier and angrier. So since THAT didn't work, I decided that it would be best for my brother to pound his acoustic drums that happen to be right outside of my door. So they woke me up.. sure.. but then I fell right back to sleep and the drums did nothing. What I need is literally someone to drag me from bed. I know I don't get enough sleep, and that this is all my fault

I'm not a morning person. Just ask my mom, roomates....streak
I set my alarm ahead randomly, and I change it ever so often. Try subtracting 17 minutes or 23 minutes first thing in the morning. Secondly I give myself about 45 minutes to wake up before I get out of bed. I also set a battery powered alarm so if the power goes out I don't need to worry about an alarm. Also, my alarm clock is on the most annoying and loudest radio station ever. I've never missed a 9:00 or 9:30 class so far this semester. *Suprisingly enough I've slept through a 1:30p.m. and 5:30 p.m. class* |

As counter intuitive as it sounds, I set the volume of the alarm clock down low, so it takes me a few minutes to actually hear it. It's not jolting me awake in the morning. Also having the shades open so the sun comes in helps too. However, I still hit the snooze a couple of times. Just need to try a little harder....

I really hate getting up in the morning though I like being awake once I'm up. What I found the best solution was (in college) was setting my alarm clock for 1 hour before I'm supposed to wake up, and then at the actual time as well. So set it for 5 AM and 6 AM for example. Once you wake up at 5 AM, the second time is a breeze and you actually have the willpower to get up. For some reason your mind gets a boost of willpower if you're able to fall back asleep for even an hour after the first alarm goes off.

I had a 9am blood test this morning. I set my alarm for 7:20. I have to get up out of bed to turn it off (hit snooze). I did that 6 times, until it gave up going off at 8:10. I set my cell phone as a last ditch alarm for 8:40 and it worked. But I'm not sure why my first alarm clock stopped.
I hate getting up in the morning. |

My mother got me the greatest clock ever for Christmas last year. Instead of hitting snooze, all I have to do is wave at it. But to help solve waking problems, try the following:
Option 1: Set two alarms an hour apart. Turn a bedside light on when the first goes off and go back to sleep. Your body will be waking up from the light by the time the second one goes off. Option 2: Get something like Citrus Alarm Clock for your computer that will play a playlist 2a: Set it to fade in a whole album starting half an hour before you have to wake up, hitting full volume when you want to get out of bed. I used Chemical Brothers Live @ Barcelona and had the volume peak during Star Guitar 2b: Set your computer to max volume, no fade-in, and have it play Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse. |
