series of numbers
I was doing a series of numbers questionaire that my stats roomate gave to me and got all of them except this last bonus question. Could anyone help me out?
1 11 21 1211 111221 He gave me a hint, that the last answer has 6 numbers. He's been lording it over me and i'm coming up blank. Can you guys help me? |
Next line is 312211 if that's any help. nb the numbers should be read as pairs - ie 31 22 11 (and 11 12 21 on the line above)
|
Um, not to sound like an idiot but I have absolutely no idea why that would be the answer.
Care to enlighten me? |
I'll start from the beginning.
1 - You have ONE 1, so the next number is: 11 - You have TWO 1's so the next number is... 21 - you have ONE 2, and ONE 1.. 1211 one 1, one 2 two 1 111221 You have THREE 1's, TWO 2's and ONE 1. 312211 Does that help? |
Ah, right, fair enough then.
|
haha that's awesome. Never thought of it that way. Thanks cliche and cybermike :P
|
is there a name for that sequence?
|
It's called the "look and say" sequence. Pretty fun reading if you can understand it.. but then again, if you can understand it, you've probably already read about it... Nah, It's fun to read even if you don't understand it :)
