It's a short play and those questions are pretty basic so you shouldn't have much trouble, but I recommend just going to the nearest bookstore and pick up the Coles Notes (or whatever variety you may have there) for the play. Those are very useful aids for answering exactly your questions.
By the way MacBeth is a great play, don't you think? I haven't read it in several years but I still remember feeling sorry for the tragic MacBeth. It really seems he was roped into his role by fate (question 4?), and his scheming wife. But on the other hand, is that really an excuse? |

my 2 cents :
supernaturals - dagger : hallucination (weak point) - witches : predictions, lead to macbeth's downfall and "dead butcher status - apparations : gave macbeth false hopes, thus causing him to hold on to them dearly like a thin thread before he died in the hands of macduff - banquo's ghost : shortly after the death of banquo, intended to instill guilt in macbeth but it did not work. could be a hallucination. - darkness : evil happens in darkness. horses eating horses. owl kills eagle (not sure of the birds, but definitely small kills big) role of banquo - as the king's noble kinsman and subject in contradiction to macbeth's evil - to bring out the evil in macbeth - quote "if you shall cleave to my consent, when 'tis, it shall make honour for you" .. banquo agrees to be with macbeth without compromising his loyalty to the king - macbeth total opposite, killed king duncan and banquo and macduff's family - banquo not affected by witches predictions although his predictions were more prosperous. |

Quote:
Macbeth truely decends into butchery however after he has assumed the throne. Again he chooses to interpret the idea that Banquo's sons would rule as Kings as a threat to him, when it didn't necessarily threaten his immediate life. And also, Lady Macbeth's role in his schemes is reduced almost to zero, and Macbeth himself takes on the role of butcher in vain attempts to solidify his throne. Yes, there were multiple outside factors acting on him, but he still chose how to interpret those factors and his own decisions stemming from them. /just read Macbeth for my Shakespeare class so trying to act like i have an opinion on it...

Also remember that the traditional location for supernatural activities on the stage is Stage Left (actor's left, audience's right).
If you get a chance to see a production of MacBeth, keep your eye on Stage Left (assuming the director is worth a damn).
