Inserting Spanish accents and symbols in MS word.. How is it done?

I have to type out and revise/edit a Spanish composition I did for class, and I use Microsoft Word.

What is the easiest/fastest way to insert Spanish accents over the selected letter in Microsoft Word?

It's about a page of writing, and there are a bunch of words that need accents, so ideally the process isn't too cumbersome, but even if it is, I'd really like to know so I can get this done.

Just to provide an example.. The word anos (year) in Spanish, needs an accent over the "n." I'm asking how I would add that accent mark over the "n" in MS Word.

Thanks in advance!

To answer my own query:

The following SITE has instructions and also examples of Spanish accents.

Since my copy of MS Word doesn't have Spanish support installed, I just copied and pasted the accented letters right into my document, re-sized, and made some formatting adjustments. It worked out well, and I highly recommend the site to anyone else trying to add Spanish accents to their documents.

Take care.

You can also use alt commands for the basics if you can remember them.

Its all about character map.
In win xp, its under accessories, system tools, character map. It has all the symbols of every font you your computer. When you mouseover the desired symbol, it either tells you the alt code or gives you the ability to copy it onto your clip board for pasting later.

If you have Office XP, I know you can go to Tool>Language and choose Spanish and check the "Automatically Detect Language" Then Spellcheck will correct you accents.

It's the keyboard, idiot!

Hi there,

It may be a little late to help the original poster, but I hope it helps anyone having the same problem.

The solution is simple: just add Spanish as an additional input language. In Windows go to Control Panel, Regional and Language options, click on the Languages tab, click on Details... and add an Spanish keyboard. I am Mexican and I always use Mexican/Latin American Spanish setting, no matter that my computer doesn't have such keyboard. Some of the keys will change. For instance:
"Ñ" will be where semicolon is
to put a tilde on vocals, strike the key next to letter "p" first, then the vocal
"¿" symbol is the "plus" sign is
"¡" symbol is <shift> "plus" sign
quotation marks are above number 2
for the rest of them you will have to try yourselves. I do.

And the good thing is you can switch between Spanish and English by pressing <alt><shift> or by clicking and selecting from the language bar in the Task bar (if you decide to leave it on, that is)

Hope it helps u all!

¡Ahí nos vemos, amiguitos!
