Framing newsprint
 

I have got some original front pages of the Daily Telegraph showing some momentous 20th century events, including VE-Day, Kennedy's assassination and the moon landing. I want to frame them to go on the wall, but obviously as they are antique, i do not want them to yellow and crumble. Can anyone tell me how I can avoid this?

I have tried googling, but it is hard to find what i am after.

For my folks twenty fifth wedding anniversary my brother, sister and I aquired a copy of the newspaper local to where we have lived, (Montreal (three papers), Bethlehem, PA, The Hague, London, Toronto, and Detroit) published on the day they were married. I had similar concerns about the news print also so...

I took them to Kinko's and had them laminated (the front page), then put them in a frame of approriate size.

The lamination made them a little glossy and reflective in certain lighting situations, but also made them air tight, and in the last 15 years have not dulled or yellowed in the least.

I would see a professional framer. There is a special way to mount it so it lays flat and straight, then you can frame it w/ glass to protect it. And I would say keep it out of direct light.

Another thing I read said that you can get a color copy of the newspaper made. The color copy will preserve the look of the newspaper (as opposed to a black and white copy) and will not deteriorate like newspaper will.

^ That is an excellent idea. Cost effective too, and I can preserve the originals. Thanks man!
