I R SMART

Mk, So I was over at another forum and someone was bashing on another guy for calling more than one person a jackass. The guy using the sentence spelled it Jackasses (makes since to me) but guy # 2 insist he is wrong... so I called him a smart ass and told him to shut his yapper.

Anyway, would the plural for Jackass be jackasses?

nash 03-24-2004 08:09 PM

Hmm, what else would it be?

MadHatder 03-24-2004 08:47 PM

Jackeese?

filtherton 03-24-2004 09:18 PM

I think the more important question is how stupid is your position if you're forced to fall back on questioning somebody's use of the word jackass?

Lunchbox7 03-24-2004 09:48 PM

I dont know. But last night i was asking my GF what would you call more than one cactus. Would it be cactuses or cactii? It was too similar to leave with the one word up for questioning. Anyone know?

dumbnutofak 03-24-2004 10:42 PM

cacti, that i do know. I am solid on my jackasses use.

It's cacti with one i

twotimesadingo 03-25-2004 06:07 PM

actually, both cacti and cactuses are grammatically correct. most english teachers/professors not on the curve maintain that it's only cacti, but they are wrong.

Fearless_Hyena 03-25-2004 06:44 PM

If there's more than one jackass in the house it means there are several jackasses present. :D

Merriam Webster:
"plural cac·ti /-"tI, -(")tE/; or cac·tus·es also cactus"

Oxford English Dictionary:
"pl. cacti /kakti/ or cactuses"

agball 03-26-2004 09:36 AM

2 Donkey's would be considered Jackasses

CSflim 03-26-2004 04:12 PM

ass....asses.
jackass....jackasses.

Makes sense to me.

tecoyah 03-28-2004 08:04 AM

I would go with "Jacks of Ass", Just sounds more insulting.

"Truly, you are a couple Jacks of Ass".

Jackasses is in the dictionary! :)

Sorry!

I think the plural for jackass is Lettermen... or is it Lettermans?

The plural of "ass" is "asses". Therefore, the plural of "jackass" is "jackasses". Simple as that. No dictionaries necessary.

Surely a 'Jackass' would not mean a 'Jack of Ass', but an 'Ass of Jack'. This would make the plural 'Asses of Jack'. Since a single 'Jack' has only one 'Ass', the term is rendered meaningless. As such, we should use 'fuckwits' instead (not to be confused with the verb of the same spelling.)

btw 'Jackasses is fine'

Not quite true. The plural of mouse is mice, but the plural of computer mouse is computer mouses. The plural of goose is geese, the plural of mongoose is mongooses. English rule is that with a borrowed word, all funny endings revert to default.

John Henry 04-07-2004 11:50 AM

But the default plural suffix for words ending in 's' is 'es'. Unless you want to revert to the global default and spell it 'Jackasss'. I like that. It sounds more threatening when you say it.

btw the plural of 'computer mouse' is 'computers's meeces'

The plural or Virus is not Virii either but I'm going to keep using it because I don't care what a fucktarded dictionary says.

shakran 04-08-2004 05:10 AM

SixEdxMia 04-17-2004 01:22 PM

And back to the top...... it's Sense...Oh yea... : lick :

QuasiMojo 04-21-2004 05:26 PM

perhaps...Jackenapes..perhaps

hu-man 04-22-2004 06:05 AM

There was a young soldier named Dice
Who remarked, they say, bigamy's nice
Even two are a bore
I prefer three or four
For the plural of spouse it is spice!

Aborted 04-27-2004 06:01 AM
