Fixing a copy machine
I’ve recently acquired an old copy machine for my apartment which I really could use. I haven’t paid a buck for it, and I’m really short on cash these days. It’s not working properly, so I’m pondering if it’s a minor problem, or if the whole thing is working on borrowed time.
The machine in question is a Canon PC-7, and it’s looking quite old, though I can’t say just how much for sure. When I copy a sheet of paper, only the content at the top and the bottom of the page gets transferred into the copy. The print is disappearing towards the middle of the page, so that most of it is blank. On top of things, there are five black spots spread regularly on one of the sides of the new copy. I’m confident that the toner is new, and the lamp looks intact. I’m wondering if there is anything I can do myself about it, or is it time to call the handyman? What should I tell the guy not to get screwed for big bucks? Any ideas? |
