How to get blood out of my carpet...

Well long story story....friend got drunk..really drunk...friend cut his foot on a beer bottle...friend wandering into my room and passed out....and now there is blood on the white carpet.....whats the easiest way to get it out?

hydrogen peroxide and cotton balls

the persons who's blood it is's saliva will work best.

for some reason your own saliva will work as a perfect solvent for your own blood. Ive used this method a few times after a nurse friend suggested it.

There is a product known as OxiClean which is supposed to remove biological stains.
Also, the large pet supply stores sell special stain and odor removers that will work on blood.

Use a carpet steamer. It works really well (my dog has a tendency to chew ticks off, so every summer there are huge blood stains on the carpet). The soap I use is Bissel brand but others will probably work as well.

edit: oxiclean leaves a faint red stain... for me anyways.

There is nothing you can do - it is the penance you must pay for buying white carpet.
Just accept it and move on.:)

I have had good luck with two products sold at carpet and floor stores. (Like Nielson Bros, etc.) My favorite is called simply, Professional Carpet Spotter, the other is by Novatex and is called One-Step Spot Remover.

Just cover it with a piece of furniture. Nobody will know the difference.

And if all else fails call Harvey Keitel.

meembo 01-03-2004 07:03 PM

No heat -- just hydrogen peroxide and a little detergent

No, no, this is valuable information. You have no idea when you might need to know this!

numist 01-16-2004 08:06 AM

I dont think merk's telling us the whole story....

I was so tempted to make another thread about disposing of bodies just to see what the reaction would be :)

Nope- just a little more subtle, like how to sharpen an axe, or maybe get clumps of hair outa the drain, or where to rent a meat grinder...

coulda taken this one for a ride.... :)

They have a fliud that will show blood under a blacklight even if you clean it up now.

Parker 02-06-2004 09:29 AM

I had a similar issue and I use Oxiclean and it worked well. Stay away from Hydrogen Peroxide because it dims the color but it does take it away.

happymaan 02-06-2004 12:22 PM

It's always better to cover the carpet in plastic first.

mew 02-14-2004 07:02 PM

Hydrogen peroxide tends to stain brown if not cleaned up properly. I like Oxyclean, but if you cant afford that, try using salt, laundry soap/water and elbow grease. If not, toothpaste is amazing. Its got fine grits that cleans well.
Good luck to ya..

piglet 02-15-2004 01:08 AM

Meat tenderizer.

losthellhound 02-17-2004 06:20 AM

This would have worked alot better when the blood was still fresh, but for the next time, salt works really well (it absorbs the liquid and doesnt leave a stain)

I suggest lime dust for getting rid of the rest of the body ;) unless you live close to a pig farm ;)
