How to export to Iran??
There a company in Iran who wants to buy $75,000 worth of printing equipment from me.
Is there a legal way to export a printing press from the USA to Iran? I don't want to end up in Guantanimo Bay with the Taliban. |
honestly no, I suggest you move up here to canada. We trade with the cubans and the iranians.
|
I will stand in the middle if you want, as long as I can make a modest margin of course.... ;)
|
well instead of moving...perhaps you can just strike a deal with some canadian guys and export to them and have them export to iran for a fee?
|
I bet inside the printer are WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTIon!!! OMg0zrs!!! Tell BUSH!!!

From the Ontario Exports Inc.
http://www.ontarioexportsinc.com/fil.../pdfs/english/ CountryProfiles/Middle_East/IRN.pdf "Most Canadian goods being exported to Iran do not require an export permit. However, where exports involve sensitive technologies or possible military applications, exporters should consult the Department's Export Control list on the Internet at www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca or call the Export Controls Division. Because the United States has an embargo against Iran, Canada does not allow the re-export of US-origin goods from Canada to Iran. Companies who wish to export goods to Iran that have American content should contact the Export Controls division to see about obtaining an export permit. The United States has eased the implementation of the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act (ILSA), effectively removing the threat of punitive sanctions on invest in Iran's energy industry. There is strong international opposition to third-country sanctions. Import penetration in Iran has dropped significantly from the early 1990s. It will continue to remain below 30% in the near-term - which is still above the global average." From United States Department of the Treasury Iran - exports to Iran are expressly forbidden. Imports from Iran are forbidden except for some foodstuffs and carpets (!) http://www.treas.gov/offices/enforce...tions/iran.txt |
It will be interesting to see how this all turns out. According to the fine folks in DC, I may be able to get a permit. Total cost = $0. Time to do so - a few weeks. We'll see.
Sending it through a thrird party is a "no-no." I've got a guy in Chile who would be a middleman. But frankly, if it is illegal to do it that way, I'm going to walk away from the deal. No sense getting on Ashcroft's bad side. I may ship the equipment from a US company in Texas to one of their plants in Dubai. From there, I can probably make it happen without breaking any laws. It's all so strange. I just want to sell the stuff and move on with my life. |
Sounds to me this is the start of something that will be on CNN soon......
|
definitely... all it'd take would be one faceless government bureaucrat to misspell your last name, and it's all over.
|
I don't think that it would be that big of a deal...
|
What if these will be used by the tyrannical government in Iran?
|
Why do they have bans on these things?
I mean yeah obviously I guess theres a bit of a threat.. but really...as long as the military or someone got to inspect it.. I mean its 75 thousand clavus could be missing out on! That's a lot of money.. |
Well, I got things worked out on my side. But the Iranians backed out of the deal. They were questioned about being too friendly with The Great Satan.
The long and short of it is that they could be killed for working with me. So they took their business to a German instead. Can't say I blame them. Thanks for making us so hated, George. Good fucking job. Yet again, President Asshat cost me money. |
