Wa-Alaikum-Salaam
Can anyone translate this? I know that As-Salaam-Alaikum means "peace go with you" or something along those lines.
|
After a bit of googling, I found:
http://home.earthlink.net/~halimcisse/prayers.html Scroll down to 11, "Wa 'Alaikum Salaam, And on you be peace!" |
I know (from watching "East is East") that "Salaam Alaikum" appears to be a respectful greeting in Islam (certainly one of the junior characters kept saying it to the 'dad')
|
Whoa, I wasn't expecting anybody to actually help. Thanks a lot.

The hebrew version is shalom aleichem:

If you ever wanted to hear "Salaam Alaikum" in a rap song, get Remember His Name by Jurassic 5. UNH SO GOOD.
|
I heard it in the First School Gil Scott-Heron song "Peace Go With You Brother" and wondered what it meant.
