Open and close garage door manually

Hi
Need to get out late tonight. How can I open and close a electric garage door manually without making a lot of noise. I know that you can open it through the emergency thing but how can you close it again manually?

Thanks

Sneaking out to see Acid Burn?

Sorry, I wish I could help you but in my experience garage doors are *always* way too loud. The best idea I can give you is to try whacking another car on the street that has a car alarm in the bumper with a stick and opening the garage door while its going off. And thats just a shot in the dark. (there are some other misdirection things you could try along the same lines, but I'm sure your a creative guy)

you close it the same way you open it. when you come back besure to reset it onto the chain, or the button won't work in the morning!! and, yeah, it's noisy. but, then, all garage doors are.

best bet; put the car outside the garage!!

When you use the emergency thing to open it, it just dissconects it from the chain. So when you close it again, it should just click back into the chain on its own. At least that is the way mine works.

Once you pull the string and open it, it will close just fine, just as if you didn't have an electric at all. It will be able to manually open and close as many times as you want, until you push that emergency thing at the top of the string back up to engage the chain. The noise thing depends. If the rollers and track are old and not lubed and banged up then probably noisy. Mine are almost three years old and in good shape and I could open and close mine without too much noise. Just do it s l o w l y... Also, don't forget that when you close it from the outside, don't put your fingers in the seams, otherwise you will crush your fingers and wake everyone up with your darned screaming waaaaaa!

this sounds juicy!

is it a panel lift door? or is it roller door?

panellifts are less noisy and you might get away with it. roller doors are seperate interlocking invidual panels that roll up into a rolled carpet above the garage door or roll out on a track above the floor space.

maybe some machone oil might help?

How old are you people?

And why don't you just shinny down the trellis like I did when I was however old you are?

ive been thinking about this...

why dont you put the car in t he garage, then pretend to be changing the oil and you need some light, so open up the garage door with the emergency lever and leave it open.

just close it the next day.

maybe a bit more detail so when can give you some more ideas
just curious what you have planned
