TED Video: Amazing 'Sixth Sense' computer interface
Pranav Mistry: The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology | Video on TED.com
I, for one, welcome our new augmented reality overloards, er, I mean devices. The implications for this are EXTREMELY far-reaching...they are some of the first future tech that actually feels future-y. I'm hoping everyone goes to TED regularly, but in case they don't, and to see some discussion on them, I'll be regularly cherrypicking videos from there for discussion or just to watch...they are some of the most fascinating "knowledge and how-to" on the internet.

I've been watching TED TV on and off for quite some time now. Many interesting topics. The speakers all challenged their audience to see the world differently. Concerning technology, I have to say this is the best videos I've seen. Excited about this technology? Hell yes.

I just don't want to operate my computer like in Minority Report or Disclosure.

This is too cool for words! I'm just curious to see where all this equipement is attached to. A laptop in the backpack? a cellphone? what is the battery life? what is the life of the camera or projector? If these can be improved to the wear and tear of everyday use, then I'm up for it all!!!

A CES Innovations Honoree in both the Media Player and Personal Electronics categories, the “Light Touch” from the house of Light Blue Optics is an interactive projector that featuring multi-touch technology turns any flat surface into a touchscreen. Liberating the multimedia content from the small screen, thanks to Holographic Laser Projection (HLP) technology, the Light Touch produces bright, high-quality video images in WVGA resolution, so you could access the content as you do on other portable devices. Moreover, you can control the projector and interact with applications by touching the image with your finger, as it comes integrated with infrared sensors which transform the projected image into a 10.1″ virtual touch-sensitive display. Be it retail, living or workplace, you can interact with multimedia content and create your own environment with minimum fuss. |
