How do I sew a buttonhole
I have to wear dress shirts to work on occasion. I'm a tall guy, 6'3" and thin. I wear a 16-35 size dress shirt. For some reason all the dress shirt makers have one less button than what I need at the bottom of the shirt. The last button is usually right at my bellybutton and the shirt always wants to spread apart below the last button and looks ridiculous. Since the shirts always come with a extra button I figure I can just sew that one on. But how do I sew the buttonhole? Can it be done by hand or is that one of those things you really need a sewing machine for?

A button hole that wold look good with a dress shirt and that would show, could be quite a delicate project and one that you might want to bring to a seamstress. Or you might want to borrow a sewing machine that makes button holes.
You might consider a snap on the inside where a button would be to hold the cloth together. It would be a cinch.

Take it to a tailor or seamstress.
What can I say? I flunked sewing in middle school.

take it to the tailor or cleaners, there's usually a seamstress there. A few bucks and you'll have a buttonhole there.
When I read the title somehow I see, "How do I sew a butthole."

I have no idea how to sew anything, so I'm sorry I can't help. I just wanted to mention that I, too, read the title as "How do I sew a butthole!"
