Need help reading this image

I wasnt entirely sure where to put this, so please move if this isnt the right place.

I have an scanned image of an old family bible page, I really need to be able to read the very first entry and I cant. I've run it through every filter, every way I know how in photoshop and paintshop with no luck, (what I REALLY need is to be able to read the first name of the entry)

is there anyone that is better at this kind of thing than me?

I played around with a bunch of random adjustments but couldn't find a definitive clear picture

It almost looks like "ansel". I believe the first letter is a lower case "a" and the last letter is an L. The second last letter could either be an e or l.

My first thought was that the first letter was a "w" and the name could be "Will" but when I compared it to the other w's in the letter, I rejected the notion.

I'm no photoshop expert so perhaps someone like NG can help.

Good luck!

would it help if I told you its SUPPOSED to say William Langley....Im just trying to prove it?

fresnelly 02-17-2009 06:52 AM

Well then I'll go with my first thought and say that it's "Will" ;)

telekinetic 02-17-2009 06:52 AM

It says "Will Langley Was Born May"

ShaniFaye 02-17-2009 07:02 AM

Im glad y'all agree...(and honestly thats not what I see) but I still need to try to bring the image out to be able to tell. I can read the "was born May 1829, I am cherokee" very well...just not that first name and several people think its several different things....

OK, howbout this?

Edit: Full disclosure, this was not a full auto process, and I might have had confirmation bias since you spilled the beans as to what you thought it was.

yep that works lol, NOW I see it, I swear I was getting joseph out of it

It says that the next clue to the location of the treasure is on the underside of the statue of liberty's big toe. You'll probably have to tunnel to it.

And here I thought it said Wilt Langlay.

noodle 03-19-2009 01:21 PM

I thought the first name was "Walt".

HALJNS 03-24-2009 09:30 AM
