Russian Astronaut
 

An American astronaut and his wife went to dinner with their friends. A russian astronaut and his wife.

They were sitting there talking and the russian wife says, "You Americans think you are the first at everything. The first in orbit around the planet, the first on the moon, well my husband and I are going to be the first on the sun."

The Russian astronaut looks at his wife and says, "Damnit honey, what the hell are you talking about? We can't go to the sun, it's too hot."

His wife replies, "Sure we can. We'll go at night."

Uh...just me indulging the pedant within:
Russia had the first unmanned, manned, and animaled orbits around the Earth. In fact, as far as the space race goes, the moon is about the only thing the States got to first.
