Think a gallon of gasoline is expensive?

Think a gallon of gasoline is expensive?
This makes one think, and puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple...16oz. $1.29..............$10.32 a gallon

Lipton Ice Tea...16oz. $1.19............$9.52 a gallon

Gatorade...20oz. $1.59....................$10.17 a gallon

Ocean Spray...16oz. $1.25..............$10.00 a gallon

Brake Fluid...12oz. $3.15.................$33.60 a gallon

Vick's Nyquil...6oz. $8.35.................$178.13 a gallon

Peptol Bismol...4oz. $3.85...............$123.20 a gallon

Whiteout...7oz. $1.39.......................$25.42 a gallon

Scope...1.5oz. $0.99........................$84.48 a gallon

And this is the real kicker

EVIAN water...9oz. $1.49..................$21.19 a gallon. $21.19 a gallon for WATER- and the buyers don't even know the source.

So next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid, Peptol Bismol or Nyquil.

ahhaah! (y):> good shit.... but you can get tap water for .000#.

shakran 02-13-2004 09:05 PM

Difference being I do not need an average of 20 gallons of Evian per week to get to work ;)

cyclone 02-13-2004 11:36 PM

nice good to know

scrappmittens 02-13-2004 11:42 PM

interesting.... well thought out

FishKing 02-14-2004 01:46 AM

I think they need to tax bottles of water to fix the money crunch this country is in.......

fizzledorf 02-17-2004 04:12 AM

interesting factoids...

Chingal0 02-17-2004 04:40 AM

Evian water is shit.

Pellegrino is where it is at. For a gallon, my trusty windows calculator says that it is $10.88 dollars a gallon.

I believe that I have consumed well over 50 gallons of Pellegrino, bringing my grand total to at least $544.26. Isn't that special.

Ripp3r 02-17-2004 07:26 AM

Evian is a french water by origin
The spring is located the French Alps

the fact that it is so expensive is merely because it gets imported and marketed as a superior water, a luxury water if you will...

In europe Evian isn't all that big actually ...

Gortexfogg 02-17-2004 07:52 AM

I think I should be saving my money and drinking more gasoline according to those numbers...

CinnamonGirl 02-17-2004 07:55 AM

A gallon of Nyquil...that could get interesting.

Scorpion23 02-17-2004 08:51 AM

If you go to any farm supply store they sell 1 gal. jugs of Peptol Bismol for $10. Marketed for livestock but made by the same company on the same machine. They just know that people will pay more for it in a small bottle.

Of course if you need a gal. of it you might have a more serious problem than money :-/

Where on earth do you buy your water?! That is outrageous. It's 99 cents for 20 oz at my eckerd..

thedrake 02-18-2004 10:25 AM

you learn something new everyday

Sensei 02-18-2004 12:37 PM

You can't simply multiply smaller portions to reach a gallon due to quantity discounts. A 64 oz of Gatorade costs $2.99 to total $5.98/gallon not the $10.17 that was listed. By that logic,

Milk 16oz.........$.75 $6.00 per gallon

Bill O'Rights 02-18-2004 12:41 PM

C'mon guys...you're putting way too much thought into this. It's a joke. It's in humor.

So now do you think it's any coincidence that Evian is "naïve" spelled backwards??? :)

steveincolumbus 03-11-2004 05:10 AM

Peptol Bismol...4oz. $3.85...............$123.20 a gallon

Whiteout...7oz. $1.39.......................$25.42 a gallon

who has ever bought a container of whiteout that was larger than a bottle of Peptol Bismol............
the bottle of BIC Whiteout on my desk is 0.7 oz. so @ $1.39 per bottle that would be $254.17 thus being the most expencive.....

tim2shady 03-11-2004 07:45 AM

this is supposed to be funny, gas is too expensive regardless of the comparisons...too bad cars to run on farts, then I'd be much more happy:)

TM875 03-11-2004 06:15 PM

I think cars should run on blood. Think about it...we all have it....it's renewable....and it would only take about 50 people to fill the tank of your Hummer.

mrphil2 03-15-2004 04:54 PM

Ah! How interesting!!

santafe5000 03-15-2004 06:49 PM

Man, i pay $0.97 for a gallon of bottled water at Walmart. Who needs that designer stuff, water is water. And if a faucet is handy, i refill the empty gallon jug at truckstops for FREE.

sigma1042 03-16-2004 08:03 AM

how about vanilla extract @ $588.54 a gallon (5oz for $22.99)

Watkins Vanilla extract

or printer ink @ $2703.32 a gallon (1.42oz for $29.99)

HP ink

woodhead 03-16-2004 12:37 PM

I thought that one of the biggest fuel problems in the US was that you pay too little for petrol. You do, as I understand, consume a lot more per fuel capita than the rest of the world.

How much do you pay, really, per litre? How does it compare to Australia, for example, which also has issues with long-distance transportation? How much is your government subsidising your 'gas' consumption? Do you have any reason to complain?

If anyone has some real figures, I'd be grateful as I'm not up to date.

iccky 03-16-2004 02:53 PM

Yeah I think printer ink is, by weight or volume, the most valuable substance you can buy retail on earth. At least I heard that somewhere... which means theres a fairly good chance I'm wrong...
