January 9

A boy was running in circles with his pants down in the intersection at West Second Avenue and west 24th Street.


Feb. 22: A drunken man at East Sixth Avenue and east College Drive reported that Russian spies had contacted him. He called again to request the military.


May 19: An injured snake, 4 feet long, was seen in a driveway at 8 Kennebec Court.
Jan. 19

Two drunken men were walking in the street on Coalbank Drive, knocking on doors and looking for parties.

Jan. 21

Someone in a red Chevy pickup drove the wrong way through the McDonald's drive-through, 201 West College Drive.

Jan. 23

Coca-Cola employees reported a hole had been drilled in a candy machine and candy was missing at Crofton/Mears residence hall.


Feb. 11

A man was naked from the waist down in the McDonald's drive-through, 201 W. College Drive. The man was driving a black Toyota Tacoma, and left without his food.

Feb. 25

Someone wanted to talk to a deputy about a neighbor hitting golf balls into cable wires in the lower 100 block of Shortville Place, south of Durango.

March 3

Someone wanted to talk to an officer about an igloo being built in a park at Crestview Drive and Delwood Avenue.

March 12

Somebody could be lying dead in the 2500 block of Main Avenue. The person who discovered the possible fatality did not want to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, nor did the person want to determine if the person was indeed dead. However, the suspected stiff suddenly began to wake up.

A man with the gun and knife show at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., was threatening to shoot someone unless he was allowed to chain a door closed.

A man reported that his mailbox had just blown up in the 1700 block of Florida Road (County Road 240), east of Durango.

A man with a beard wearing a turban was driving a maroon minivan with a bumper sticker for Saddam Hussein and an Iraqi flag in the 28800 block of U.S. Highway 160.

A man was receiving romantic messages on his cell phone but his caller ID was showing "unavailable," he reported from the 2700 block of New Mexico Avenue.

A man in his 20s was going door to door to give away detergent in the 700 block of south East Street in Bayfield.

A man reported that three drunken people crashed a hot-air balloon in his back yard on Calle de los Suenos, east of Durango. The people left in a white truck.

A mechanic and a man were in a disagreement, and the mechanic poked the man in the chest with a finger at Durango Car Care, 601 E. College Drive.

May 7

A man reported that a woman harassed him by writing in chalk outside his house. He claimed she also makes many unwanted phone calls to him.

May 9

A woman in the 600 block of Sagewood Drive reported that strange songs were being recorded on her cell phone voice mail. She thinks it's her ex-husband.

May 23

A neighborhood disturbance involving five screaming women occurred at 510 East Seventh Avenue.

The driver of a gold Chevy with leopard interior was driving erratically while applying makeup on the 800 block of Camino del Rio.

A cat was on top of a backstop at the softball complex at Fort Lewis College.

A cow was stuck in a fence at 11274 Colorado Highway 140, in the Marvel area.


June 1: A person reported that two cows were headed eastbound on County Road 211, a quarter-mile west of the Centennial Center in Durango.

Aug. 6: A goat appeared on a woman’s deck in the 700 block of Twilight Lane. The goat would not eat, drink or move.

A man reported that he received a bad check from a woman with no teeth and wearing a tie-dyed shirt and a man in a baseball cap in the 800 block of Main Avenue.

A bearded man in a 1970s orange dually with a utility box in the back followed someone home from Hesperus and said, "I got you now."

A girl accidentally hit her little brother with a necklace ,and then the girl's grandmother hit the girl with the necklace.

A man with a bushy mustache was cleaning a long gun in a park at 17th Street and Main Avenue.

There was a wild cat inside a woman's house, and it was attacking her cats and bouncing off the walls at 11202 La Posta Road.

A man in a blue and white Ford was parked under a light at Mercy Medical Center, 375 Park Ave., masturbating and whistling at people going into the emergency room.

A man in a gray hooded sweatshirt was wearing a yellow construction helmet and running in and out of traffic at East Third Avenue and East 15th Street.

A man was selling baby turtles and firewood in the 2200 block of Main Avenue.

Three horses and a goat were running up and down the roadway in traffic in the 7800 block of County Road 203, north of Durango.

A woman who looked like Jennifer Lopez was sleeping in a vehicle in the 100 block of East Sixth Avenue. When a man asked her to come inside she became upset and started breaking windows. The woman was arrested.

A man was staggering in the street, growling like a bear and talking to himself in the 500 block of County Road 121, west of Durango.

June 28

A sick squirrel was inside a house in the 200 block of Jenkins Ranch Road. The squirrel was chased out.

July 5

Four or five people were bouncing on a swinging bridge behind the fire station in the 1200 block of Camino del Rio. An investigation showed they were doing nothing wrong.

July 6

A juvenile reported that an old lady was yelling and bothering him behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant at 2933 Main Ave. The juvenile was returned to his grandmother.

A herd of loose horses was harassing someone else's horses in the 100 block of Tres Aguas Road, north of Oxford.

A man in a white Suburban was driving recklessly. He threw a nail out the window and made a gesture in the 27800 block of U.S. Highway 550, north of Durango.

Horses were in the road and holding up traffic at County Road 211 and County Road 141, southeast of Durango.

A man was tied-up and banging on a door outside of his motel in the 2200 block of Main Avenue. The man was clothed and able to walk.

A Siberian husky was barking on the roof of a house in the 1100 block of Fourth Avenue.

A long-haired black dog that runs loose in the 2900 block of East Fourth Avenue was at it again. The owners weren't home.

A man was issued a citation for going 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. The man was enraged. He said the last sign he saw was 65 mph. He planned to call U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, R-Colo.

July 28

A woman was running around and yelling in a parking lot in the 3200 block of Main Avenue.

August 11

A man was picking chokecherries without permission in the 1700 block of Eastlawn Avenue.

Aug. 22

Someone called Peaches tried to break into a woman's house in the 500 block of East Seventh Avenue.

Aug. 29

A drunken driver drove a blue Beetle with Texas plates onto a man's lawn and fell asleep in the car with the radio blaring in the 700 block of Waterfall Lane. There was a dog in the passenger seat.


Sept. 18: A 30-year-old man on the Fort Lewis College athletic field was trying to pass a kidney stone.

Dec. 6: Dispatchers received a 911 call from a home in the 400 block of East Seventh Avenue. When they called the home, a woman said a dog had the phone.
September 6

A man with a Jack Russell terrier, who was drunk or high on drugs, offered drugs to a clerk at a motel in the 2000 block of Main Avenue.

Sept. 19

A man asked authorities to check on his 40-year-old wife and daughters, ages 10 and 3, because his wife had her brain removed by a cult.

Sept. 27

A bear with two blue tags was trying to get into a house on Highland Hill Drive, east of Durango. The bear tried to get into all of the doors and looked into the living room. When deputies arrived at the home, the bear was gone.

October 11

A man was trying to get in the front door of a house in the east 500 block of 31st Street while another man lay on the lawn in pajamas.

Oct. 12

Someone who wanted to go to jail called 911 from a pay phone at north City Market, 3130 Main Ave.

Oct. 20: A couch was on fire on Chapman Hill.

Oct. 28: Three men took a can full of peanuts from El Rancho, 975 Main Ave., and headed eastbound on Ninth Street. The pail of peanuts was found at 12:56 a.m. in the 700 block of East Second Avenue.

November 3

A man wearing a stocking cap attempted to take a woman's glass door off the front of her apartment in the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 550.

Nov. 7

A short man wearing a beanie and a blue and white pinstripe sweater approached a woman at Main Avenue and Seventh Street and asked to smell her perfume.

Nov. 14

An emu was loose and walking on County Road 222 by El Rancho Florida, southeast of Durango.

December 2

A man found a bag of ladies' undergarments at Florida Road and Aspen Drive.
