but wouldn't the bus get flattened if something - like the roof of the house -- fell on it?

I think that if the roof of the house fell on the bus, it would probably only get flattened to the level of the berm around it, so it should still be plenty safe.

I love the swimming pool ladder down into the bunker, though.

This goes in the "trashy" file simply because of the recycled school bus, but it's actually a pretty smart way to stay safe, unless of course some piece of debris comes flying through the open window in the door or something....

Yeah, I guess it would be safe until all the water from the rain pooled into there. The busses have already been flooded once so I guess they're used to it.

Cover the rest of the roof in dirt and paint the back side there white or something simple and call it one hell of a big storage shed.
