Online gaming headset
I've been playing a decent amount of Day of Defeat: Source online and a couple people have been telling me to get a headset so I can talk in game.
Thing is, I don't want to wear headphones, since I have a decent 5.1 speaker setup. All the headsets I've seen are built with headphones. Anyone know a good headset that doesn't come as headphones? USB interface would be preferable. Thanks |
You can pick from about half a dozen diffrent microphones from newegg.com all like $25 or less most should do a good job just read the reviews on the one you decide on before buying it. see what other people had to say. I have one that has been sitting in the packageing for a few weeks now been too lazy to reach behind the computer and plug it in. I play alot of Day of defeat sorce as well =P as Plaid13 hope i get to shoot you sometime if i havnt already

The problem with using a mic when you have such a nice speaker setup is that the people on the other side will usually hear themselves in your speakers.
|
Thats a good point, I guess if I want to use a mic I should just get headphones as well.

To be honest, having a voice chat going totally blows away the disadvantage of losing your speakers for the game ;)
|
Just a warning: you will be the guy that everyone hates for talking because they're getting the in-game sounds feeding from your speaker system into your mic. :D
"Hey *blam!* guys, how's <Get nicht!> it going? *ratta tat tat tat tat*" |
I'll have to pick up a headset/headphones set then if I want to talk. I think I'd rather just play with the speakers on then to use voice chat though.
|
might be some sort of weird script or something to use in the game to mute your speakers while you talk but i dunno would have to ask in the dods forums or something
|
I know that in Unreal 2004 the game lowers the volume of effects and music when you push the talk key. It shouldn't be that hard to do in other games.
|
I dunno, I have pretty good speakers, and no one has ever complained that they hear the sound through my mic. Does the volume have to be turned up pretty loud for that to happen?
