PS2 USB devices
Probably a stupid question, but is it possible to use USB flash drives as memory on the PS2 (using the front USB ports)?
|
Datel has pen drives, but you need to load up the CD first. If you had Datel's CD, you could use any pen drive.
This also adds the added hastle of loading up the CD before the game every time you play. Annoying... |
in other words, it's probably not worth messing with...

much more trouble than it is worth. The Action Replay disks let you use the drives as storage for downloaded saves off the internet, but the data is "crushed" you have to "unpack" them first using the Datel CD then transfer them to a memory card to use them. There is no option to use the USB drive as a standalone memory card replacement.

Well, you can use them with Grand Turismo 4, for the Photo feature.

There's a PSP accessory that lets you transfer your PS2 saves to your PSP Memory Stick, I think it's called Max Media Storage. It comes with a USB cable to hook your PS2 to the PSP, as well as a disc you put into your PS2 to facilitate the transfer.
I haven't had the chance to try it, but my guess is that with the disc in your PS2, the console program sees the PSP as a normal USB drive, so I think you can use a USB drive instead. |
